For no particular reason 😁 this seems like an excellent moment to remind people that we have this handy list of people who work on security and defence topics.
@VeilidNetwork - A framework built with privacy and data security in mind. Drops soon. Made by Cult of theDead Cow, some of our very own folks from H.T, and others around the net — folks with a track record of Knowing What's What.
@TexasObserver - What's this? An independent news source with the good sense to host their own instance? One for which one of my long-time, left-as-left-gets journalist friends works, by all appearances quite happily? Even, dare I say, proudly? They could stand to add content warnings to more of their posts, ... and they publish well-informed pieces.
#ireland runs a regime where big tech is hardly taxed and is subject to hardly any data privacy oversight. Now the #fg#ff#greens want to make the lack of data protection even more intransparent. This is an attempt to make the great work of people like #maxschrems even more difficult by criminalising it.
Wow! Things are happening quickly in Russia. Unfortunately, the best current source of information seems to be Twitter, and I suspect many of us aren't using it and thus support the racist running that platform. Good sources of information here or elsewhere in the sane part of online media are welcomed.
Here are some of my initial thoughts. Unfortunately, my Mastodon instance has a short posting limit, so this is across multiple messages.
Really impressed by the number of people on social media who turn out to have expertise in both deep sea engineering AND modern Russian political dynamics.
Here's an early #ff for you all :) If you're technical and self identify as "sysadmin" even just a little bit, you should be following @jimsalter - He wrote for @arstechnica for quite a while and now drops science on us all every week on the @25admins podcast. I have learned a TON about #ZFS and *NIX in general from him through the years and prize his advice rather highly.
Except for his dislike of #ProxMox which I personally think is a pretty great way to herd VMs for non production use :)
Make sure to follow hashtags of topics you like. I’ve listed some below.
We also have two groups that you can follow:
@ baseball @ a.gup.pe
@ baseball @ chirp.social
(remove spaces, and make sure to follow the groups, not users with that name)
Happy Follow Friday, folks! It's been a few weeks, so it's time to shout out some of the people that make the fediverse an awesome place to be. You all are great! :blobcheer:
