Great news for all chemistry students , AI will probably not replace you (yet), although generative AI can help in first year maths and physics questions, it struggles with chemistry. Not so strange maybe, it's less straight forward and exact.
At the same time GPT4 is amazing in analysing questions just from looking at a picture.

: "We evaluated GPT-4 in a public online Turing Test. The best-performing GPT-4 prompt passed in 41% of games, outperforming baselines set by ELIZA (27%) and GPT-3.5 (14%), but falling short of chance and the baseline set by human participants (63%). Participants' decisions were based mainly on linguistic style (35%) and socio-emotional traits (27%), supporting the idea that intelligence is not sufficient to pass the Turing Test. Participants' demographics, including education and familiarity with LLMs, did not predict detection rate, suggesting that even those who understand systems deeply and interact with them frequently may be susceptible to deception. Despite known limitations as a test of intelligence, we argue that the Turing Test continues to be relevant as an assessment of naturalistic communication and deception. AI models with the ability to masquerade as humans could have widespread societal consequences, and we analyse the effectiveness of different strategies and criteria for judging humanlikeness."

For me the antidote against was simply trying the paid version of , sure it's expensive but after a few days you experience is NOT intelligent in anyway, AGI is NOT around the corner. At the same time it's a very powerful tool with plugins where i am trying to establish in which contexts it can have added value. It's unreliability, bias, hallucinations etc. are problematic. Sceptics will argue it's useless / should not be used anyway but i don't agree with that (yet)

The best way to get away from the hype, is using GPT4 (paid version) for a while yourself, it made me less impressed with the "intelligence" part of AI. At the same time it only makes me more convinced that as a tool generative AI has a lot of potential. It can and will be disruptive but please let's stop all the blabla about AGI (my opinion). There are enough risks and problems to think about and act upon with these tools without AGI discussions.

While exploring for ways to improve the image descriptions in the RealityCheck apps viewport, I decided to create a tiny app that takes screenshots of the visionOS simulator and sends them for analysis to the gpt4-vision API. After that, I compared the results using the same simulator states between VoiceOver image description and GPT

You can play with it here. You just need an OpenAI API key

The debacle starts making a lot more sense if you consider that the board itself is

Board: You are untrustworthy and should be fired

Altman: no, you are incorrect

Board: oh sorry, my mistake, you are right. You are not untrustworthy and therefore should not be fired

seems like the firing is a signal that openai might be becoming more open again. i’d love to see public papers

Y'all I did it!!!! Compiled Vision with pyinstaller, had to

pip install cffi

first, set vision.exe as default program for opening JPG's, set screenshot wizard in NVDA to open files after screenshot instead of nothing, and boom! I can take a screenshot and it's opened in vision for describing!

I was a bit confused how GPT4 uses a document you provide with a query, is it the same as RAG ? The nice thing is you can just ask.

Looks like I have access to the ChatGPT-4 API. I have it returning responses to queries via a Drafts App action.

I had ChatGPT-3 working before. I bought some OpenAI credits last week in order to try to trigger GPT-4 API access on my API key. Seems to have worked.

I use it as a glorified search assistant.

Now using paid ChatGPT aka ChatGPT plus as an experiment, quite impressed with GPT4 not so much yet with "GPTs" , but maybe i am not good enough in instructions etcetera.

GPT4 vision in your terminal! You'll need an OpenAI API key and some money on your OpenAI (not chatGPT) account.

Imagine this as an NVDA addon that described the current object NVDA is on, including windows, like integrating it into the screenshots addon.

Warum lieben KI-Chatbots emotionale Prompts? 🤖💕
