A #GrandJury found probable cause. A #Jury of his peers found him guilty. #GregAbbott the #Governor of #Texas told them all to go fuck them selves.
What a bunch of bullshit.
#Republican Gov. Greg Abbott said Thurs he was pardoning #DanielPerry, the fmr Army sergeant convicted in the fatal shooting of a protester during a #BLM march, after a review board recommended he be released from prison.
…Unsealed court records revealed that he regularly shared #racist memes & threatening content in private msgs & social media posts, including descriptions of killing protesters & minorities.
Perry was convicted of murder in the death of 28-year-old #GarrettFoster, who was legally armed w/ an AK-47 rifle, during a 2020 confrontation in downtown Austin at a racial justice demonstration.
"Republican Gov. Greg Abbott... pardoning Daniel Perry, the former Army sergeant convicted in the fatal #shooting of a protester during a #BlackLivesMatter march...
Looks like the protesters were blocking the road, and it's not that evident that he actually hit anyone. He also was taking a right turn on a red light, which is a legal thing to do.
I can see why #GregAbbott might have wanted to pardon him, although the case certainly isn't exactly cut-and-dry and it's fair to have different takes on this.

"University administrators from Texas to California moved to clear protesters and prevent encampments from taking hold on their own campuses as they have at Columbia University, deploying police in tense new confrontations that already have led to dozens of arrests.
At the same time, new protests continued erupting in places like Pittsburgh and San Antonio."
"Greg Abbott is one of many on the right that has bemoaned the death of free speech on campus. He signed a law to protect such speech in 2019. And then he calls for peaceful protestors to be arrested.
So how can Abbott justify such a reversal to his call for free speech? The protestors are anti-semitic, he says. Really? How does Abbott and the police wading through the crowd know the students are anti-semitic?"
