YouTube is login-walling videos apparently, meaning you need an account to watch them. It's still in testing but some users are reporting that it's live in some places already.
On an unrelated note, even though I ask for donations to help me cover costs for my #peertube server I will never hide my content behind a paywall. I just thought I'd throw that out there. ☺️
Can anyone recommend a #peertube instance where I can upload occasional videos from my #data analysis work, my #cohousing project, or both at the same time? I do about one a year. Thanks!

I generated a new world to improve the volcano embark situation a little bit and hit pay dirt! There are many more embarkable volcanoes and they have plenty of resources near by them, so I picked a spot and will embark on to my next challenge:

Ich empfehle und nutze schon länger @krita, @GIMP, @inkscape, @Blender und/oder @penpot aber ich bin ja kein Grafikprofi. Abgesehen davon wird selten zugegeben, dass die Fixierung auf einen Hersteller nicht unbedingt professionell ist.

Um deren infos so wie dessen Einsatz zu lernen, folgt doch deren Videos Account im Fediverse auf @peertube und/oder deren Kanäle der einzelnen Sparten. Somit wird es sicherlich auch ein professionell nutzbare Photoshop Alternative für euch bei der Gestaltung von Webseiten.

Consider posting only a teaser clip of each of your videos to your YT channel, with links back to the full video on a PeerTube server. Or some other ethical video hosting service you trust and endorse. That will help more people find your videos than only posting them on the ethical server, and help more people learn about replacements for YT.

Problem is: I can't come up with a clever name for it. Out of desperation I've turned to:

I'm thinking of staying away from Mastodon/elephant specific terms maybe... in case I want to discuss other areas of the #Fediverse in the future... like #Pixelfed and #PeerTube for example.

I'm going to try to expand the list of #peertube instances I follow from my server. I've noticed the servers I'm currently federating with tend to lean towards being highly technical. It's not that this is a bad thing since that also reflects my personal interests, but a little variety doesn't hurt.
I think after #DEFCON I will invest more time to enhance my #Mastodon alerter for when I am live on #Twitch, and see about how I can do the same with my @matrix server.
I do have to spin up my AWS environment for my cloud labs, and setup Twingate connectors for Zero Trust Network Access. Once I get the restreamer setup, I will work on adding Simulcast to #YouTube and #Owncast or #Peertube (thanks to @DavBot hosting me), but will require reworking my OBS scenes to be compliant with rules.
My goal is to ensure my community can access me on the platforms they desire so I have a simulcast to #Tiktok, #Twitch, #Youtube, and the #Fediverse (with #Owncast and/or #Peertube ) with alerts to my Discord, Mastodon, and Matrix in part to also be a learning experience to see how to interact programmatically with these chat platforms.
I’m currently looking for a new PeerTube home. Diode.zone is trying to scale down and since I have a large account with 4 channels that’s 216 gigs in size, I thought I’d help by finding a new instance.

So the account export feature packs up your content and account and creates a nice little archive to dl and upload to the new instance.
Ok.
So where does that file live when the user's content is on object storage and exceeds the server's local disk space?
The docs don't bring that up. The way I see it the export feature could brick a server.
Auch deswegen nutze ich YouTube nicht direkt, sondern Links über @invidious* oder nutze es mobil via @newpipe*, um Videos zu sehen und so weit frei vom Tracking zu sein. Leider sind noch nicht sehr viele anregende Videoproduktionen im Fediverse zB auf @peertube vertreten.
