Solitary Sandpiper
This sandpiper was enjoying the summer mud at Miner’s Marsh in Kentville and apparently finding lots of eat. This was taken a few years ago in my early years of photography, so I was really pleased to catch it so well. I can’t wait until we can have a bit of summer, to be able see the ground, mud or grass! Meanwhile we can enjoy photos like this, to remind us.

The short film 'Piper' is about a young, hungry sandpiper who overcomes his fear of water.
There are no spoken words in the film; the protagonists, essentially sandpipers and hermit crabs, communicate almost exclusively through gestures and sounds.
The film won the award for Best Animated Short Film at the 89th Academy Awards.
"A newly described fossil is as old as the “first bird,” #Archaeopteryx, and represents a #Birdlike dinosaur that might have specialized in running or wading instead of flying..."
While sitting in my usual #heron spot I noticed something in the corner of my eye….this #CommonSandpiper.
Moments later I was spooked my a fieldmouse which came out of nowhere and I’m 80% sure jumped at me! I ended up stepping into the #River which scared of the Sandpiper but luckily I had captured this first.
