J’ai sur le PC et aucun problème pour y accéder à partir de VLC sur mon ordi portable mais pas moyen de le faire à partir de la tablette.
Y’a une option à activer quelque part ?

This might prove rather controversial, but I think Joseph Lister carries off a road cone better than the Duke of Wellington.

If you've never lived in Glasgow, the above sentence probably makes no sense what-so-ever!

Wow, I have never been frustrated with until this week. I'm so close to "controlling it" but the simplest things just don't want to work for some reason and it doesn't make sense. Documentation is odd and you need a Masters degree just to understand it IMO. Oxmplayer isn't happy with and neither is MPV.

Hint: it's NOT --vout

It shouldn't be this hard to find a local music player for with the following requirements:

  1. Simple interface akin to the iPod Touch iTunes interface
  2. Compatible with Android Auto
  3. Lets me subscribe to podcasts via RSS

If anyone knows of any, please, PLEASE, let me know. I don't even mind paying if it's solid. I would use but it's interface is too busy for me.

Don’t know if this will work but I want to ask the lovers here…

Anyone have good alternatives for ?

I’ve had a subscription with them for 6 years now. Kinda getting tired of the cost:benefit ratio.

What I do like: Metadata, organization of the library contents, decent UI, mobile app support (Roon more than ARC, but ARC is ok)

What I don’t really need or like: Remote playing (controlling other speakers in the house), paying Tidal if I want good recommendations, kinda bloated and slow app

I’ve used plenty of , , / , even back in the day

I’m really looking for any music solution that’s a little bit of a media manager w/metadata, especially if it can manage all that on a server.

I don’t mind paying for services, I’m just tired of the Roon bills on top of streaming services too.

Like - I want less than Roon but more than VLC.

Any recommendations?

Today I discovered that can directly convert my midi files to audio (no need to open a DAW that doesn't handle things like pitch shifting the same way etc).
So here is the city's theme (almost 1MB audio but 5.6 kB midi), interpreted with the game's SNES-era soundfont (16 kB), derived from PilotWings.

@limepot I'd just show them @ubuntu LTS live and point out that they get @libreoffice #LibreOffice, @videolan #VLC, @mozilla #Firefox and #Thunderbird preinstalled with it free of charge and neither get #ads nor #malware nor #govware in their #OS...

Also #Steam just works and even #Windows-Games do so thx to #Proton (#Wine + #DXVK)...

rewarp, to linux

Last night, as a result of me fiddling with a Blu-Ray audio CD that I received as part of a collection that was destined for the dumpster, I decided to re-read how to play Blu-Ray region locked content on a Linux system again with fresh eyes.

My previous attempt, failed when I got to a page which blocked me from playing my legally acquired with my capitalist tokens Liz and the Blue Bird disc, because my player was apparently not in the right region.

Digging around a bit last night, I found out PC Blu-Ray players are region free by design, so that meant the region-lock error was probably erroneous.

This time, aided by the reliable Arch Wiki at https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Blu-ray

I followed the steps for setting up the environment, and to copy KEYDB.cfg to the right folder, and voila, Liz and the Blue Bird, now playable!

rewarp,

lol I didn't think I would have a continuation to this series of toots as a legal owner of a BD of a favourite anime movie of all time.

The region lock screen came up again, and I was 😲

Why would it suddenly stop working? It was definitely working this morning. Not my brain hallucinating it as working.

Knowing it worked once is enough for me to try some things, and I have found it. The region lock message is itself just a video, so what if I skipped it somehow?

And I guess that's why VLC has this option for playing Blu-ray discs.

È un po' di tempo che cerco un'app di controllo remoto per #vlc; ne ho provate diverse, e insomma, funzionicchiano. Ovviamente per le migliori feature devi pagare e sono zeppe di pubblicità.

Poi l'illuminazione... Vediamo un po' su F-droid.
Trovata micro app stupidissima che fa esattamente quello che cercavo in modo facile, veloce e pulito.
Come al solito F-droid batte Playstore 10 a zero

A thing that's a big frustration to me is Microsoft bought my favorite Android keyboard (SwiftKey) awhile back, and roughly the moment they bought it they stopped ALL feature work on it. So I've got some minor but persistent UI complaints about SwiftKey, like you can't enable a language's accents without enabling its autocomplete, or you can't (since Microsoft bought it) disable Flow. These fixes will never happen, no matter how many people request it. https://support.swiftkey.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115002583005-Disable-flow-AND-gesture-

lispi314,

@mcc It actually depends too, it was more true a decade ago, but proprietary media players (like Windows' mediaplayer & iTunes) have always sucked more than media players like .

They still do, it's just slightly less blatant & in your face.

For just one example of a category where Free Software dominated from the start.
