Learn about one developer's experience of rewriting old C projects with Vala in our latest blog post "Vala: the smoothest C off-ramp": https://vala.dev/blog/c-off-ramp/
There was a time when I used to code graphics drivers. I used to love #assemblylanguage. Nowadays, I can't code my way out of a paper bag. Its been so many years and I'm just a #yaml jockey these days. I've been trying to learn #python, and while I get the basics, it just doesn't seem to gel in my head to make an app. I want to like Go, but I feel I gotta get something down like python to get to that (and to do some projects I want to do). The goal is to learn #vala, but man, I'm dying here!
I don't understand what is the point of releasing an IDE via #flatpak, when that flatpak doesn't include all the necessary dev tools, and it can't access the ones outside its sandboxing. Honestly. What's the point? I'm looking at you, #Geany.
Personally, I can't stand flatpaks or #snap. #Appimage is nicer just because it's just one delete away from within the file manager and doesn't leave crumbs everywhere. But overall, I prefer #apt, and #dnf.
My first pull request to #Workbench project (the #GTK and #GNOME one) got merged yesterday.
I ported one of the demos, titled "View Switcher" to python which demonstrated how to use a Adw.ViewSwitcher (from #libadwaita) using python and deleting certain elements from a Gtk.ListBox according to a button press.
Looking forward to learn #Vala language and maybe contribute to Vala ports or maybe write new demos in python?

New little toy project in #vala#gtk4 / #libadwaita : Oliver, a simple GUI for PHPStan.
Select a folder, it runs phpstan found in vendor/bin subfolder, shows (searchable) results, monitors reported file for modification to automatically analyze project while coding.
It's called Oliver because, you know... Stan... Oliver...
Hi guys, I'm about to release Planify 4.4 which brings a lot of new features, as there are so many and I don't have a blog yet, I've created a small dialog to show what's new.
@mike Hey Mike, happy new year and thank you for your work to maintain fosstodon.org! I'm currently missing emoticons for #Yunohost and #GNUstep. Would you bother to add them? Thanks in advance!
Created a template for GTK4+libadwaita apps in Vala and Blueprint. I'm trying to learn Vala and GTK, then I found the XML syntax to be absolutely horrible and made this. If there's any issue with the template, please make an issue or pull request, I don't really know what I'm doing :blobfoxcry2: https://github.com/d4r1us-drk/valagtk4-blueprint
