I will be starting to create home #exercise vids for fellow #PhysicallyDisabledFolks, starting this month. Exercises will be as #inclusive & #accessible as possible.

Several of them will be done in a chair. Some standing & others are laying down. I don't see many exercise vids made by & for #disabled folks available online. I got frustrated, trying to find exercise vids, made by fellow disabled folks.

So, I'm going to stop complaining about lack of them. I'll start to create them, myself.

This message goes out to any blind hardware music synthesiser users on here.
I’m hoping somewhere down the line to purchase a good keyboard with a vocoder in it.
I have always been attracted to the microKORG because it has nice physical and clicky buttons that you can operate and that is not always the easiest to find.
Basically I'm looking for recommendations. #Music #Synthesiser #Accessible #Blind #MIDI #microKORG #REAPER

FYI: If you have Google domains, then you may want to know about this thanks to @tayarndt

Squarespace announced that it is acquiring all assets of Google Domains, including the transfer of approximately 10 million domains, with the transaction expected to close by the third quarter of 2023. Google and Squarespace have entered into an agreement to transfer the assets of Google Domains.

What Domain Provider will you move to since much of Squarespace is not ?

Has anyone made contact with the people behind ? I think many people would like to use it, but it has a few unlabelled buttons in the room UI.
I haven’t been able to find any way to contact them but this would be a big hit in the blind community if it were a bit more .

I’m a Blind technologist and i’ve built the Dimensions Lab for #accessible tactile graphics and #3d models at New York Public Library. With the right tools, skill-building opps and community support, Blind people can break out of image poverty and excel at spatial thinking + design. Just a tip for people here that want to make their posts more . Note this isn't a demand or even complaint, just a tip. I see some people putting at the beginning, rather than the end, of their posts. While hashtags made part of a sentence works fine at least for me, having a string of keywords before the actual content means I, as a screen reader user, will likely not read. To get an idea of why, try reading a post that does this out loud to yourself.

Until more / clients are made (for other than specifically ), most of us are purely out of luck!

How ya gonna expect most blind people to jump over to a different platform (with the exception to a instance), if all the work is being specifically put into Mastodon?

Are Microsoft and Adobe really the only ones making software that can create tagged PDFs?

I would rather not use either of them!

It seems that every blog post that argues against using details elements for interactive components boils down to a list of bugs in various tools (one random example attached).

However, I think this ignores the fact that implementing some custom menu or tab or accordion component with the required bevy of aria attributes and javascript interactions is inherently prone to have just as many bugs, if not more.

To , does anyone have any suggestions for a pair of noise canceling purchasable on that can connect to my computer running , preferrably wirelessly or through Bluetooth. It's even better if they can somehow also connect to a second device and let me hear when my mom calls my . This would be something I could use with my computer on days when our dogs are barking a lot so I don't get such bad . Of course, they need to also either not have software for the computer, or that software needs to be somewhat . My budget right now is about $80, but I may have up to $120 or so if I wait a day or two.

Are there screen reader resources out there for learning how to develop new technology from scratch? I have no idea what I want to do yet, I just know I want to learn. I’ll figure out what to do with the knowledge later.

Currently taking a course for folks, and all I can say is that is a prime example of why engineers should never be trusted to build good usable apps. No usability nor good design considerations at all, just a mish-mash of awful choices that aren't using common nor accepted design patterns over on MacOS. Desktop apps aren't and shouldn't be websites and should take full advantage of what AppKit or what the native OS offers you in terms of controls.

Is there a guide somewhere for making good, (in-person/online) and for ?

If not, I want to make it. Let me know if you want to help.

(Lots of stuff on the web about this, but not for academic events, and it's not a perfect fit. Also lots of stuff that's "top 5 tips" or in blog post format - also not what I want. I want something I can hand to an organizer who was planning an in-person only event and have a hope that they might actually turn it into a good hybrid event. Or for someone who wants to plan a hybrid event from the get-go.)

Good morning, mastodon! Well, it’s finally happened. The changes to Castro, and the fact that I need to go into individual podcast feeds and manually refresh them in order to show up in my inbox, finally made me reach my breaking point. It’s time to switch podcast players. Any client ? Something that handles chapter support, and also gives me the ability to view episodes in an inbox fashion without having to download them until I’m ready to listen to them… Basically, Castro the way it used to be, would be preferred. I will settle for the closest I can get, though. Thanks in advance.

Is it possible to make a graph for ? I'm adding line charts to a web app, using chartjs.

I'm planning to include a summary like min, max, average, median etc., but that's not enough to describe the complexities of a graph. Is there anything more I can do? Would it be useful to include a full table of all the points of the graph?

Also I am already planning to consider color blindness and zooming in/scaling up, anything else to consider?

Hi all. Hope everyone is doing well. It's about to be 3:00 AM here, and I'm about to get some sleep, but before I do, I wanted to ask for #advice from those who might know more about #technology, creating #websites, and #accessibility than I do. My mom runs a #construction #business and has a website she designed herself with drag and drop on #GoDaddy. She owns the #domain it's on and wants to move the site for a few reasons: it keeps getting hacked and she's getting a lot of spam and scam messages, customer service is poor, and GoDaddy isn't very #accessible with #ScreenReaders, so I can't help her manage her website at all. I've done some research and seen that other recommended no-code website builders are #Wix, #Squarespace, and #Weebly, but I can't find a lot of information on their accessibility. I've seen posts on #Reddit recommending hiring someone to design your website, but we don't know anyone who could do that, and our budget probably wouldn't be high enough. My mom isn't great with #tech and really needs a no-code solution. Does anyone know about the accessibility of website builders like the ones I mentioned, or can you suggest another one that might work? Thanks.

While initially looked like a good alternative to (which is abandoned and inaccessible), it turns out to not be for both screenreader and keyboard users. You can search and select items fine, but then there seems to be no way to unselect items. Damn.
