Some time ago I did this small #fanart of Poogie, little #piglet in #MosterHunterWorld. Poogie has many outfits, changing with holidays and seasons and I thought Halloween version was the best I saw. Whole pig's body disappeared, only empty #ghost#costume floating in the air.
In 2017, I crocheted myself a solar system costume. The headpiece is mounted on a bike helmet for stability (I got that tip from some folks who build showgirl costumes). The tunic is made from fine black linen yarn, very matte, very tedious, much like I imagine space is most of the time. The planets are made using an online sphere pattern generator, so that I could vary the sizes in a predictable way; they are strung on a fishing line with beads, and suspended from an elastic collar, also crocheted. They are also kept in place with a beaded "asteroid belt", located between Mars and Jupiter, of course. Photographed at Manhattan Beach Pier. All second-hand yarns, though I had to ask around for enough yellow to make the sun so large. #solarsystem#crochet#costume#planets#sun#astronomy#planetary#yesplutotoo
I crocheted Thor and Loki helmets for my kid and her friend to wear for Halloween in high school. Various thrifted yarns, including some metallics I rarely use, which was fun. #crochet#costume#Thor#Loki#Halloween
An #eclipse can be a costume opportunity, if you really want it to be one. :) (This was from 2017. I didn't dress up today.) #solareclipse#crochet#costume
Appeal: does anyone have any juicy photos of museum/collection textiles that I may use in a training session? (With credit, obviously.)
I'm after:
👔 packed/stored textiles (stored well or poorly, your choice!)
👚 examples of different types of historic and modern textiles
👗 examples of damage to textiles (stains, tears, pest nibbles, anything!)
🧶 identified fibres under a microscope
In 2019 I made a bathtub costume for my son, to fit over his wheelchair. We called it the Bathmobile, because it had working headlights and a license plate. It's made from discarded cardboard (a wardrobe box turns out to be the perfect size), frappuccino lids, tap lights, scrubbers, and rubber duck from the 99-cent store, and a lot of spray paint, foil tape, and duct tape. #wheelchaircostume#costume#bathtub#bubblebath#Halloween
Some very cool sketches from costume designer Keeley Gunnell (Insta @keefashion_) who will be working on two upcoming action / horror projects with us. Super excited to see what she dreams up!
Academia.edu is a neverending source of high quality research. In this case, however, it would be more precise to speak of cutting edge(s) research? However, take a look for yourself.
It’s #FursuitFriday! I can’t believe my super trip to FC and then Michigan was not even a week ago! I was so glad to meet a bunch of you out there and re-experience the west coast for the first time in many years. I hope you all have a good weekend!
