:coolglasses: Free game of the week: Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is now available for free at EpicGames for the next few days. The Deus Ex series is where #Cyberpunk2077 got a lot of inspiration from 🤔 I bought it at release in 2016 and while not groundbreaking as the first Deus Ex, it's still a good action FPS game with some RPG elements and should run fine on Steamdeck and Linux.
Depuis que je suis passé à #Linux, je n'ai jamais ressenti le manque de logiciels/jeux Windows.
Mais aujourd'hui, j'ai eu envie de jouer à #DeusEx (l'original de 2000 ❤️). Du coup, je me dis que c'est l'occasion de tester #Wine. Wine est vite installé, un problème de .dll qui empêche l'exécution du .exe est vite réglé par un sudo, le jeu se lance, s'installe. Mais il n'y a pas de son, plein de décors, caisses et objets qui disparaissent/réapparaissent et il n'y a pas de sauvegarde. Va falloir que je fasse des recherches et des réglages avant que je puisse jouer pour de vrai…
Ich habe mich immer etwas schwer mit klassischem #Cyberpunk getan. Das kann daran liegen, dass mein erster Eindruck von Kybernetik durch #DeusEx kam. Das zeichnet sich in allen Teilen vor allem eine düstere Zeichnung der Welt aus, wo Kybernetik nicht das Instrument des Punks ist sondern der Kapitalisten und faschistoider Gruppen. Ist das etwas, was sonst zu kurz kommt? Ist der Punk nicht der Nicht-vercyberte? #pnpde

So, the day I start re-playing the Deus Ex games the Worst of All Possible Worlds podcast puts up and interview with Jay Anthony Franke, the voice actor for JC Denton from the original game about his acting and QA work in the games industry.
I would love to hear how the game and UX designers on Zelda react to the amazing millions of ways people totally shortcut their very clever puzzles. Like, did they think about the workarounds and went "yeah, we know, but, we'll let them do this anyway". Or are they totally surprised like "oh, snap, we didn't foresee that one, at all".
@stephaniewalter That's why I love those kinds of games, so called #ImmersiveSim they just give you a set of systems and a goal and rarely limit your ability to exploit those systems.
Having been used to linearly scripted games, I was surprised to find out that the characters in the original #DeusEx didn't have plot armour.
Ah bah tiens, on en parlait hier, possiblement une de mes #bigbox les plus récentes vu que ça commençait déjà à être la mode des boitiers DVD tout pourri : #DeusEx, qui embarquait à l'époque son guide Prima qui pesait le poids d'un mouton électronique mort.
