It’s Friday, which means it’s Retro Game Of The Week time! This week, who you gonna call… yeah, them, as I delve into Ghostbusters for the Sega Master System and Sega Mega Drive!
"Vigo the Carpathian. Born 1505, died 1610. He was poisoned, stabbed, shot, hung, stretched, disembowled, drawn and quartered... Not exactly a man of the people"
I really like both Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. 🥰
Nothing world shattering going on but they're well-written, well acted, have the same warmth and heart as the first films, and I find Mckenna Grace really sweet and engaging in the role of Egon's granddaughter, Phoebe. She has Egon's mannerisms down pat and it's lovely to watch. Carrie Coon's funny and laid-back Callie Spengler is really good value as well. The guys are great too: it's nice seeing Paul Rudd take on a gentler kind of character.
I do hope there's another one coming along at some point. :Blobhaj_Ghostie:
I watched 2016 again as well and while I see what it was doing it's a very dumb film in a lot of ways that also feels a bit mean-spirited in regards to its illustrious ancestor; a lot of the jokes are built around making fun of the OG movie or just doing things differently simply to appear fresh. Possibly best to let this one rest peaceably.
It is 40 years since the release of the original #Ghostbusters. As far removed from that point in time as 1944 was from 1984.
Can you imagine a studio executive in 1984 insisting that they should invest hundreds of millions of dollars in a loose sequel to Double indemnity or the Woman in the Window?
I mean... I wish they were making sequels to #films from 1944 as this list of releases is insane modern #Hollywood hasn't made this many great films in the last decade.
#Ghostbusters is so good. The trailers didn’t do it justice. If you liked Afterlife, or loved it like I did, you will probably really enjoy Frozen Empire.
My #Ghostbusters "Frozen Empire" review? Go see it. Better than "Afterlife" (which I liked). It was a great popcorn flick. Got enough chuckles out of me to have made it worth seeing in theaters. Stop overthinking everything.
We're going to see "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire" today around 12:45. I'm not sure if I am expecting much, but I did secure tickets with heated recliners so I can nap if it goes to shit. 😉
From Entertainment Weekly: “Jimmy Fallon and the Roots knew exactly who to call when it came time to perform their hilarious new rendition of the Ghostbusters theme song.” Fallon and his “The Tonight Show” band teamed up with Ray Parker Jr., Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson to perform the 1984 hit song using only mini classroom instruments.
