These are traditional painted from Poland called .

Some are ones my Grandmother brought back for me as a little kid, others I bought myself later.

They can be blown eggshells, or made of painted wood.

Many East European countries have this tradition, and similar names for them (eg in Ukraine they are known as ).

They are often decorated in styles unique to the region.

3 painted easter eggs, sitting on a patch of green moss with blurry background of autumn leaves behind. Each egg is unique: painted black with brightly coloured flowers in pink, blue, gold and green.

Orkney shop owner raises £3,000 for charity after Easter egg error

Extortionate Easter eggs and shrinking sweets: fears grow of a ‘chocolate meltdown’ (www.theguardian.com)

Poor harvests in extreme weather conditions have led to a tripling of cocoa prices – but farmers have seen no benefit. Around the world this holiday weekend, people will consume hundreds of millions of Easter eggs and bunnies, as part of an annual chocolate intake that can exceed 8kg (18lb) for every person in the UK, or 5kg...

In an attempt to fight boredom, I've recently been making origami figures in class and leaving them in random places all over the school building for students to find as easter eggs 😉

I think my next move will be to put little motivational messages inside the origamis…

I was ready to refute this claim that the term "Easter egg" comes from the production of Rocky Horror, like "nuh uh videogames called it that first," but actually, the dates check out. I can't vouch any further than that, but the dude at Atari who is credited with coining the term, didn't use it until years after the RHPS Easter egg hunt, so maybe! 🤷‍♂️

Anyone remember "Homestar Runner"?

For me, huge wave of early web (launched New Year's Day, 2000) .

lauhazn,

@davemark @wklj The site uses now, a emulator built in . It's not perfect, but it works reasonably well. They also uploaded a lot of their videos (and occasionally upload new ones) on YouTube to homestarrunnerdotcom, though some are missing. If you want to indulge your nostalgia on Mastodon, there is the Homestar Screens bot @grapenuts_robot, which shares random screens from the series, though it lacks . ! !

There are some fun hidden details in Fringe. For instance, in the parallel universe of the series, when the Observers come out of the movie theatre after having watched Back to the Future, Eric Stoltz is listed as the main actor (episode 2x15).

Stoltz was in fact initially cast as Marty McFly, and they recorded several scenes with him before he was replaced by Michael J. Fox. Apparently, that didn't happen in the parallel universe 😁

There's another one in an earlier episode too, where Olivia and Peter are talking to an online conspiracy crackpot who believes he's the son of Sarek, sendt back in time to prevent a Romulan invasion. I.e. he believes he is Spock.

He also says he has met William Bell, which at that point was still a mysterious character they were looking for. Bell is played by Leonard Nimoy, who also plays Spock (which every SciFi fan knows of course).

@rayckeith Just spotted the poster. It's in Fringe season 2, episode 21, and it announces season 11 of the West Wing. The West Wing ran for 7 seasons. 😊
