THE PACT (2012) is a low budget haunting that really does its job. While the movie probably won’t be winning any awards, it’s still an awesome ghost story. It’s definitely worth a watch. There’s also a wonderful twist.
THE MUTILATOR is…uh…a thing. You would struggle to call it a plot. The soundtrack was something out of 80s sitcom. The kill scenes are incredible. They’re full of excessive gore and fake blood. It’s not offering much in the way of great entertainment unless you’re making fun of it.
GRADUATION DAY is my first introduction to serial killer jogging. I’ve never seen a coach who gets so upset about pictures. This movie is so unashamed of its awful. Everyone should watch this brazen darling of a slasher gone horribly wrong. The kill scenes aren’t bad. Why do so many slashers have musics videos built in?
We believe this film to be an important record of Scottish social history. Its observational style captures natural and spontaneous conversations on the streets and doorsteps of one small town in Scotland during the constitutional crossroads of 2014. There is no other record like it.
SLEEPAWAY CAMP has some awesome practical effects. It’s another cast full of douchebags and that makes the killing so satisfying. The deaths are creative and unique. This is one of the rare 80s slashers that tried to get inventive and not follow the usual format. And holy shit. That ending.
THE PROWLER is another surprisingly good horror! Man, the 80s seriously cranked out a ton of slasher gold. I was not expecting a WII psycho on the loose slitting throats and impaling people with pitchforks. It’s a no frills, no bells and whistles sort of movie. The ending is fantastic. It’s another picture that executes on every level. I really enjoyed it.
Low budget #horror movie from the 20teens. so you know it was set in the 80s.
Written and directed by Justin M. Seaman, which was going to be my porn star name so I'm glad I didn't use it.
Watchable if not particularly original, but at least it has Linnea Quigley.

A very random question but something that came up since my son is suddenly Pirate-obsessed: Which film adaption of Treasure Island is "your" Treasure Island?
The first one I saw, and still my favorite, is the 1990 version with Charlton Heston, Oliver Reed, Christopher Lee, and Christian Bale.
John Wayne takes a break during the filming of ‘The Undefeated’. (1969). Wayne’s biographer Michael Munn chronicled Wayne’s drinking habits. According to Sam O’Steen’s memoir, Cut to the Chase, studio directors knew to shoot Wayne’s scenes before noon, because by afternoon he “was a mean drunk.”
THE BABADOOK is tense to the point of discomfort. Everything about the film is designed to keep the viewer on the edge of their seat. The whole film is chock full of dread. I love horror that has a true fairytale vibe. This film is so bleak. I love the ending. It’s a classic style of suspense rarely duplicated these days.
TERROR TRAIN is a really unique concept. It’s the MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS of slashers. Words I never thought I’d say: I wasn’t expecting a David Copperfield cameo. This poor conductor, having to deal with a college murder bloodbath. It’s got some really tense moments. There’s a lot more I’d love to say, but I don’t want to spoil it. It’s streaming on Shudder. Check it out.
PEARL is tremendous. Mia Goth is incredible. I adore her work. The movie feels like a throwback thanks to the perfect score and some vintage filmmaking. There are some truly enchanting moments. I cannot wait for MaXXXine. It’s been a fantastic ride so far.
