Tonight's dinner was, "Use up stuff I'm almost out of."
In this case I warmed up frozen raviolis and meatballs in the microwave while I cooked some onions in olive oil with basil and thyme. Then I added fresh spinach and butter and cooked it with just enough heat to wilt the spinach a little.
Finally I combined everything with parmesan and mozzarella cheese and a scoop of sour creme and put the whole mess back in the microwave for a few minutes.

Still to do:
🍴 Finish clearing to the dining table and get that set up
📦 Unpack and put away kitchen stuff
✈ Carefully plan a trip next month
🧶 Finish the hair for my Ukrainian amigurumi doll
📚 Start reading books at bedtime again, not scrolling insta reels
But first, we're gonna wait for the Sunbeam to arrive (no spoilers please, I have not finished the game! I've only made it just to this point a few times, so I know what happens to it but not beyond) and then go make some lunch. I think it's a soup and buns kinda of day.
Might be a grownup and also unload the dishwasher while I'm down there.
Trying to get away from buying heavily processed vegan meat substitutes and making more use of tofu.
My go to is pressing and thinly slicing firm tofu into strips, and marinading in dark soy sauce, maple syrup and whatever spicy sauce I have. I then air fry them for about 7 minutes.
The Syrian style shawarma (not stated on the menu) at Palmyra in the Haight is indeed the closest thing I’ve had to a Damascus style shawarma. There are fries in it :) it’s better than their standard shawarma on the menu
I also love their hummus, kibbeh and tabbouleh. Much better than much more expensive middle eastern spots around
George Lee gave up meat for 100 days after his grandfather died, per his native Taiwan, traditional Buddhist mourning ritual. It was then that Lee “started to feel something that anchored my interest in vegetarian cooking.” Today, Lee is a vegan chef, and Atlas Obscura talks to him about “A-Gong’s Table,” his new cookbook that explores the potential of plant-based foods. https://flip.it/GldfRg #Culture#Food#Foodstodon#Cooking#Thailand
Peel Road @ Kuala Lumpur, famous for its chinese-style nasi lemak shop but the whole street is filled with great food options. The kopitiam occupying the corner shop is fully halal/muslim-friendly and hosts a good selection of Malay, chinese and Indian food stalls. #food#MalaysianFood
Breakfast of over easy eggs, grits, biscuit and a sausage. Not pictured, sauteed kale because I need my greens. Friend got pancakes with bananas. The pancakes were really good!
The biscuit is good too (it's usually too dry when I had it in the past)
The other places I ate at that I enjoyed: Urban Hui
It was a little trippy to hear Indonesian music as we were eating 😆
And then I ended up chatting a bit with the waiter, who is Indonesian who thought I was too because I was like omg who chose the music! (No, I didn't recognize them, but I did not expect to hear Indonesian music)
This pic is not all... The noodles came later and I think we did order more stuff (this is all for two people, but I have a very good holiday stomach, and only the bok choy was left unfinished by the end)
I am not a big fan of those konjac noodles. The texture is just wrong and they don’t taste like anything, I’m going to go back to just eating the sauce on an egg 🥚 #food#lowCarb#diabetes
so apparently the big secret to tasty fries is ... peanut oil. you cook em in peanut oil. or toss them in it and airfry em. that's literally all you need
