More than one million people from around the world have signed a petition by the human rights organization #Amnesty International, calling for an immediate ceasefire in #Gaza and accusing #Israel of "wiping out entire families."
The petition states, among other things, that The Israeli authorities continue to dehumanize Palestinians in their rhetoric, bombing crowded refugee camps, hospitals, UN-run schools, bakeries, mosques and churches, roads and civilian homes. Civilian hostages held by #Hamas and other armed groups in Gaza remain at risk, and indiscriminate rocket fire towards Israel endangers civilians.

The suspects were said to have celebrated the attacks by Palestinian militant group #Hamas on Israel on Oct. 7, and were accused of spreading hate speech against Jewish people on social media, using symbols of banned terrorist organizations, dpa reported.
Israeli media and IDF's Twitter account are showing various #IDF issued photos from al-Shifa, none of which are of tunnels, or a command center.
al-Jazeera is asking:
"[...] more than 24 hours after Israel’s raid started, the Israeli army has not shown evidence of either #Hamas-run tunnels or a military command centre under the hospital."
In respect to a video shared on IDF's Twitter account showing Jonathan Conricus going through the hospital, they mention this:
"On X [...] the Israeli army first posted a video of Conricus taking viewers on a tour through parts of al-Shifa, which it said was without any edits or cuts [...] But it deleted that post and then republished a near-identical video, with some tweaks. On social platforms, that further fuelled questions about the veracity of Israel’s claims."
Are Israelis are afraid the facts of the occupation might be weaponized against them...?

No wonder thousands of people in North America and Europe are protesting for #Palestine. They are not supporting the #Hamas, and they're not antisemites ... they are protesting their leaders who made their countries complicit, alongside Israel, in war crimes.
How were the Israelis treated in captivity? #Haaretz vs #NYT. Both are quoting conversations with relatives:
“They have some difficult stories to tell of the way they were captured and treated,” Ahal Besorai said of his nephew and niece. He said he had spoken with them on a video call at the hospital where they are staying.
"The conversations also reveal that several of the captives said that #Hamas did not mistreat them, and that their daily routine in captivity was rather fixed. According to the relatives of those released, one of the main difficulties for the captives was boredom and lack of activity. At some point, one of the groups of captives was given a radio receiver and through it they managed to stay updated on what was happening in the country. At the same time, they said that sleeping conditions were difficult, especially for the older captives, who had to sleep on a mattress on the floor or on benches. According to several people who spoke with some of the returned captives, the food was simple and monotonous."

Majority of Americans 18-24 think #Israel should ‘be ended and given to Hamas’
A survey by Harvard-Harris polling, conducted this week, found 51% of Americans between the ages of 18 and 24 said they believed the long-term answer to the Israel-Palestinian conflict was for “Israel to be ended and given to Hamas and the Palestinians.”

Previous surveys from same pollster, asking similar questions, were found inconsistent. Might it have something to do with limiting the answer to Hamas, instead of Hamas vs a generic Palestinian authority? I’m pretty sure not being given an option to be specific forced people who support the Palestinians to chose Hamas, even if they don’t condone Hamas’ actions.

It’d be ironic if arming Israeli civilians, as Netanyahu and his buddies suggested, would make them targets for security forces arriving on the scene of a terror attack…
Turns out #IDF killed the armed civilian who had killed the two terrorists that carried out the shooting attack at the entrance to #Jerusalem.
The civilian was the first to fire at the terrorists, killing them, and the soldiers, who arrived at the scene afterward, thought he was one of the terrorists and killed him.
In a video from the scene of the incident, which was published on social media, the civilian can be seen raising his hands and pleading with the soldiers not to shoot – and afterward being shot and falling to the ground.
Just recently had to break it down in a group because it's been flaring up, figured a post would be nice.
This may seem like a Jewish specific topic, but it is important for non-Jews to know as well.
Zionism vs Anti-Zionism.
First of all, if you're a non-Jew it's best to identify with neither as for non-Jews is almost always antisemitic. (And yes I mean both).
This is a one of the biggest bones of contention in the Jewish community and is absolutely a loud argument right now due to current events. Worse yet, it's generally so because of a mix of misunderstandings and extremism. Zionism
Originally this was the belief that the only way Jews could find some stability and safety would be to form a Jewish state. Once the state was formed, this turned into rabid support for Israel. For the milder of them, it basically boils down to patriotism... for the extremes it's nationalism
The loudest and most well represented of Zionists, however, believe basically that any criticism of Israel is inherently antisemitic, even by fellow Jews.

Originally this was opposition to the creation of modern Israel, though each person had their own wildly varying reasons.
After the creation, many Anti-Zionists became Zionists. For the rest it mostly transformed into minimizing and addressing the damages caused by the creation of the state (ie. the occupation of Palestine). Many do dream of the potential of dismantling the state, but don't see it as feasible because creating a new humanitarian crisis to solve another isn't an acceptable solution.
They're generally painted by Zionists as if they want to abruptly end the state without addressing the crisis it would cause. (As such even mild Zionists often believe Anti-Zionism to be inherently antisemitic)
(Non-Jews can criticize Israel, but being/identifying-as Anti-Zionist is pretty much reserved for Jews; the exception being victims of Israel)
