If you can get paid at a school for sitting at the library and checking in books, or checking IDs late at night at dorms - both easy jobs that don’t materially harm the person in the job, you for sure should get paid for playing sports that risk bodily injury and bring in millions for schools. #NCAA
The new transfer rules make sense from a sporting perspective. But to say that they do anything other than prioritize sports over academics requires a level of mind bending that I can't seem capable of completing.
And yet that's how they're selling it.
"[...]With these rule changes, NCAA members continue to prioritize long-term academic success [...]"
What utter nonsense.
Set your rules however you'd like, but don't lie about them.
Just to be clear, if you don't like unlimited immediately eligible transfers submit your complaints to the AGs of about a half dozen states, including WV and Ohio, who sued to get the rules thrown out.
The expedited rule change (it's technically called emergency legislation, but frankly that makes it sound a little more dramatic than necessary) essentially formalizes what the court has ordered: Athletes can transfer as often as they want and be immediately eligible.
Really happy to see such a high profile (and extremely religious) women’s basketball coach reflexively and confidently answer “yes” to this attempted gotcha question
As far-right contenders dominate the #GOP ticket in a state known for its flourishing #economy, the business community is bracing for potential fallout
Winner heads to the Frozen Four this is the best @hockey
Game I've seen in years & I have no particular affinity for either team #NCAA#Hockey#FrozenFour
Obviously the game evolves and every #NCAA title run over the years has been populated with its own signature talents and performances but, that said, I think we can all agree that the only championship that really mattered was the 2003 Syracuse win.
I can’t find anything to disagree with. Those kids and their coaches deserve to be in a safe place. The Mayor of Coeur d’alene and the governor can say all the words they want, but the hate mongers have a haven that’s at least as old as I am. They’re there. They’ve been there. And they’ll stay there as long as they’re allowed.
I have questions about who Cube has been taking pictures with politically speaking. But this is kinda dope. I guess Ice Cube is ruining basketball with wokeness
Police are investigating racial harassment of NCAA women's basketball team in Idaho.
@NPR reports: "Members of the University of Utah women's team told police someone in a truck displaying a confederate flag yelled racial slurs and revved the engine in a menacing way as players and staff walked to dinner."
