New instance, new #introduction. Originated on @themadcodger, but migrated to @madcodger because I wanted to try #calckey out over mastodon. I ended up preferring it, and while I still have my masto account, haven't really gone back. I've been wanting to get off of the big server for a while now, so I'm looking to make a home elsewhere. Hopefully here.
At any rate, I'm just a guy in the #PNW that likes going on adventures and #travel, #hiking, and #backpacking. I'm also into #Board Games and #ttrpg, specifically #Pathfinder2e / #pf2e. Online, I try to keep up on #privacy and local/national #politics without being overwhelmed or depressed... which is not easy to do.
I've got a black #cat named Nef, and sometimes find time for #baking and #knitting, though not as much anymore.
So, my step-son has a growing interest in playing ttrpg adventures, but we're a pretty small family without a broad local social circle. We've played a couple of times with his cousin, who lives cross country, but it's difficult to make schedules line up with a 4 hour time difference....
Paizo has confirmed that the Centaur and Minotaur ancestries in the upcoming Howl of the Wild book will be large size by default, with a heritage each that make them medium....
I should note that I was cleaning up my reddit account (read: deleting all my comments before deleting the account) and found this from a bit ago. Thought I'd preserve it for posterity...
One of my favorite #dnd 3.5 books was the Manual of the Planes. The way they handled planar stuff really kinda caught my eye, and I loved the concepts behind spells like Planar Area Shift - and you'd better believe shenanigans were had.
One of my biggest complaints about #dnd5e is that it doesn't really do stuff like that anymore - to say nothing of the fact that so many settings get a book. Compare that with, say, the 3.5 forgotten realms series, or more contemporarily, the #pf2e Lost Omens setting. Large of a company as Wizards is, we know they can do it. I mean, hell, Wizards published all that back in the early 2000s.
Yes, there's backporting, but the fact that it doesn't get quite the detailed coverage it used to kinda disappoints me.
There’s some really interesting changes coming for 2e! Bards have full martial proficiency, clerics can f finally get heavy armor from within their class, wizard schools of magic are gone… Then of course the big named news, like the replacement of dragons with the magic traditions (arcane/nature/religion/occult), and the...
