the why:
I am starting to plan a live set for teh first time and I intend to use my MC-707 as the main brain.
I am an old school pen and paper guy and I really like using tracking sheets in the studio to prepare and save time on the day of the session.
So, if you know where I might be able to find something like this I would very much appreciate a link.
#workinprogress#roland#boutique#diy stand(s).
They are coming along quite well but are a bit steep at 45°.
And I have absolutely no idea why, but the threads I made (which are M5) do not fit either M5 (too big) or M6 (too small) screws, so I am thinking of glue as a possible "fix" for this. 🤔🫣
The AX80 is not an easy instrument to love, but has a STRONG personality. To find it, you'll have to push it to the outer limits of what the engine was built to do.
Now the 20, if you use synth patches….its fine. The saws and other things are fine.its just the strings that I’ve notic3d on the ae20 that just suck……compared to the ae30
Next distraction already got in: a #Roland#JX3P from 1983. It has a few non working keys but I guess this is just a matter of proper cleaning. Maybe I redo the PSU. Also thinking of getting a programmer clone which makes this synth much more versatile. #synthesizer#repair#analog
Magazine talking about Roland using Artificial Intelligence. You would think this is a very recent article, but it is from the Roland Users Group magazine, from 1988.
Have you ever installed a musical or #fx plug-in?
Are you not a #ProTools or #Sibelius user?
If this sounds like you, you may find anywhere from a few hundred MB to several GB of unwanted AAX plug-ins used by #Avid just hanging around on your system like a bad smell.
I'd check just in case. #Mac: /Library/Application Support/Avid. #Windows: Program Files\Common Files\Avid.
I found 2GB on my Mac and deleted them, but every 6 months or so I check again and due to updates from companies such as #NativeInstruments, #Arturia, #SoundToys, #Roland etc, they come back.
Very few manufacturers allow you to turn off installing certain types of plug-in, so it's worth keeping an eye on these.
Quick video explaining basically what I just said for Mac, with a pinned comment for windows users: https://youtu.be/181lJTD1FqY

Turns out the stepped LFO on the #mc707 is actually pretty fun. There's SOOOO much I have not played with in this darn box, #roland really outdid themselves with it. Perfect? No! But dude, so much stuff in there.
Speaking of the Ensoniq VFX-SD, it was advertised as the “First Music Production Synthesizer”. They must have meant within the Ensoniq family of synthesizers, because this came out in 1989, and before it, there is at least one that precedes it, in 1988. See reply to learn what it is.
⚠️Important info about the lead synth in Europe - The final countdown 🎹
The sound of the keyboard riff used in the recording was achieved by using a Yamaha TX-816 rack unit and a Roland JX-8P synthesizer, as described by Michaeli: "I made a brassy sound from the JX-8P and used a factory sound from the Yamaha, and just layered them together."
@cou@iotar@synths and finally, LFO and envelope changes. Main change is env1 key to off. Env1 sustain is on the long side, probably not needed once the JX is plugged into a Hall Reverb (another key component for the sound). Here, a Zoom Multistomp MS-70CDR with HD Reverb.
I've put a few bars of the lead for Final Countdown on soundcloud, with the Roland jx8p factory preset 28, the jx10 factory preset, and my own patch using jx10 tone 72 plus added synth tone. All with HD Reverb. Also recorded the last one dry. Sequence was recorded on a Roland MSQ sequencer and looped
