Try Feeder; it's an open-source RSS feed app!

@itsfoss
I've been using it for a while and it's pretty awesome. The one feature that I really miss though is being able to 🔍 search for specific articles and texts. That's a deal breaker for me so stick with 🍮 Handy News Reader.

If anybody is looking for a good free here in 2024, I am loving Inoreader so far. Switched over from Feeder and haven’t missed it a bit.

I am really looking forward to working on next update for Twine RSS reader. It should contain groups support and redesigned expanded bottom sheet ui/ux.

In the meantime you can try out the app here

Dear friends of and the ,
today marks exactly 8 months since the BSD Cafe was announced to the world. Our community has grown and is made up of wonderful people who add tremendous value to the content seen both on our Mastodon instance and other channels (primarily Matrix).

For this, I am truly grateful!

One of the first services we launched was Miniflux, but, in fact, it never really "took off." The main reason, in my opinion, is that registrations are not open but require contacting me directly, which (I am aware) greatly limits the freedom to sign up. The reasons why Miniflux is not open for immediate registration are various, but the main one is that the developers offer paid hosting that helps fund the project. By offering a free service with immediate access here, I risked undermining them - something I wanted to avoid.

Therefore, I have decided to introduce another RSS Reader, namely FreshRSS. Registrations are open and free, and the tool, like the others, runs exclusively on BSD systems (currently, FreeBSD).

I will update the wiki page with information and instructions as soon as possible, but the server is already active and operational for a few days - and is now on the Status page.

So, point your browsers to https://freshrss.bsd.cafe and... happy reading!

Does anyone use Readers here? What are your favorite features? What are you missing?
I'm trying to make an RSS reader that doesn't compromise on UX or features, and looks good.

Would love your feedback!

Are there any feed readers that synchronize between multiple devices without a remote server (self-hosted or otherwise)?

It'd be great to have my subscriptions synchronized between my phone, desktop, and laptop without needing to use a service or self-host. I know I could probably set something up through syncthing, but it seems like it should be simpler.

Ah, this is a nice little Firefox Add-on :firefox: that will alert you of Mastodon user's accounts as you browse the web.

(It looks in the website for the same snippet of code used to 'verify' your profile on Mastodon).

Clever stuff by @tvler 👏

Nicely chuffed with 37 stars for my minimal ode to Google Reader written in with . I use it frequently, far more than any other software I've written for myself. There's something to be said for scratching ones own itch in the simplest manner with no excess features. That anyone else finds it useful is a surprise and a joy.

Hello fellow fans. Is it possible to connect my Mastodon feed to my Feeder? I haven't tried it yet, since I only started using Feeder earlier today and I'm about to finally go to bed. Still learning the ropes.

If not, that's okay. 😁

To those who are in perpetual search for a reader, I can't recomment @Inoreader enough. It's always been great, but I love it even more after their recent redesign. Great for RSS power users who want to: set up keyword alerts, subscribe to YouTube channels, get newsletters via RSS, sync everything between devices, while supporting a European company.

I like that I can see in the web UI –and subscribe to the of– any hashtag used by a person on 👌
I can also find way quicker anything I posted for a given hashtag.

• on web:
[https]://your.instance/@you/tagged/hashtag

• add to your :
[https]://your.instance/@you/tagged/hashtag.rss

For example,
• view only my adventures (I mean “complaints”):

• subscribe to them (weirdo!):

Finally, a solution to view Twitter feeds in one place without login... and RSS feeds too! 👍
