Yey YouTube ads!

What @Vivaldi don't say in their release blog post of version 6.7 today: if you use the updated Vivaldi Feed Reader to watch subscribed youtube channel videos, you don't get to see any ads. Not sure how long this will work until Google shuts shuts this circumvention down, but right now if you're sick and tired of youtube ads, just use Vivaldi's feed reader (it's a great browser/mail program for everything else anyway)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E00sqFtAirI

Note that if you do that, you may want to consider other ways to support the folks who produce the videos, (which is generally the case with adblocking. There's no such thing as a free lunch. Make sure that people who create things you enjoy get something in return).

I noticed a few weeks ago that the Naidheachdan a’ BhBC was missing articles that were on the website and I was getting duplicate copies of others and for the last few days all my feeds have been redownloading previously read articles as new.

So I figured I’d give the app a try and although I can subscribe to the topic, it doesn’t show up any content in the My News section.

Actually we had a Garfield Classics RSS that stopped working in December too...it might be easier to just set up an RSS feed of my own that randomly pulls from a pool of images? Is there a good tool for that? I have some spare cycles on my VPS

I’m late to the party, but better late than never.

Shoutout to @simevidas for creating a Github issue, and @stefan for getting in touch via e-mail, i.e. two ways of letting me know they’d like to subscribe.

Well, now they can. And you can too:

I was this old when I discovered that Gmail inboxes have their own RSS feeds 🤯

In hindsight, I must have known this all along, but haven't been able to think of a practicle use case for it. For one, I have no idea how to access the feed from a third-party client. This thing must be authenticated.

Such a nice feeling when I see visitors of my site coming from @feedle! It's the ultimate kind of dog-fooding. 🤓🐶

Imagine someone who probably didn't even know my blog existed found my articles, because the person happened to be interested in the same things I wrote about.

That's what I call "perfect match."

amazing.
They are developed by @zverik and Simon04 (among others) and allow you to track, through an , all general or specific changes in

What if an algorithmic timeline can actually be used for good, rather than for targeting people with ads, or changing their political stance? Will this even work?

We don't know, which is why we are giving it a try. We have taught an algo to pick and from our growing selection of blogs and podcasts on @feedle.

It is far from perfect, but we want to share it with everybody we know and make your day a little brighter.

Hey , if you are listening 🙂 :
Your RSS feed has a bug: it doesn't escape the text inside the <title> element (maybe others too?), and my Little Assistant complains that it cannot deliver the recent update.

EDIT: Actually, there are more texts that are not escaped inside a CDATA section:
• <title>
• <media:title>
• <media:description>

Here is proof (from Firefox):

The protocol is absolutely insane.

There's no privacy. And I don't mean missing DMs.

All your posts are available through API endpoints. Without any authentication. By design.

The "invite-only" thing may have you think otherwise.

Here are my last 100 posts.
