It seems, my trekking shoes are going for their end of life 😭
It's the second time that they crack at this spot. Luckily Salewa offers a 3 year extended warranty. Unfortunately I didn't register them for this warranty, so that it is of no help for me 😢
I used them for about 3+ years now. So they definitely did some duty. Yet it still bugs me that the material is cracking there. The rest of the shoes is great.
I hate (well, not really hate, but you will soon understand), how the reviews of #winter#cycling#shoes are mostly done by the British. They give stellar reviews, rating some things VERY high and then you see them riding in +5C in short bibs…🤡 I wish there were reviews like that from people cycling daily in continental winter, like -20C… Cold hands and feet are my achilles heel and make me really miserable and it’s difficult to pick good gear with reviews from Brits…
When #metaldetecting in ploughed fields you always find Early Modern shoe buckles dating from after 1660. Reading June Swann, I just learned something that might seem obvious. These buckles were not sewn to your shoe. They were like a pair of cufflinks that you moved from one set of footwear to another. That's why we never find discarded #shoes with the buckles still on. Here's a shoe from ~1710 and a pair of replica buckles of the same century.
My dear #running / #trailrunning friends: I need to ask for advise on picking #shoes for #marathon runs on paved roads and mildly unpaved trails (photo 1):
ASICS Trabuco Max 2 (photo 2): the middle in weight (~290g), not waterproof. Bouncy w/ rocker design.
Salomon Speedcross 5 (photo 3): the heaviest (~295g), waterproof(?). Big lugs.
I recently posted about my hatred for cargo pants.
I don't resile from that judgement, but some posts from @pixelcats expressive of her generosity of spirit reminded me that I need to take care not to be a curmudgeon:
A loafer is essentially a slip-on shoe with a moccasin-like upper (top + sides), a separate, rigid sole (leather or, in some cases, rubber), and a heel. But there's a whole lot more to it than that.
What makes these shoes gay? Isn't a gaberdine a type of robe? What makes brown, brown and black summer colors? So many questions, so few answers. #vintageAd#gay#shoes
