#Poland's prime minister announced on Tuesday the re-establishment of a commission to look into undue Russian influence, as #Warsaw grapples with what it says is an intense campaign by #Moscow to destabilise the country.
"I issued an order on the establishment of a commission to investigate Russian and Belarusian influence on the internal security and interests of the Republic of Poland in the years 2004-2024," Prime Minister Donald #Tusk said.
Polish parliament took the first steps to ease abortion restrictions, voting through four proposals on the subject to a commission stage and setting up a showdown with the country’s anti-abortion president. A court upheld the country’s near-total abortion ban in 2020 supported by the right-wing Law and Justice (PiS) party, which held power at the time. Mr #Tusk, a former president of the European Council, has warned #Europe must be prepared for war before.
He revealed #Spain's Prime Minister Pedro #Sánchez had asked fellow #EU leaders to stop using the word "war" in their summit statements because people did not want to feel threatened.
Mr Tusk said he had replied that in his part of Europe, war was no longer an abstract idea, warning "literally any scenario is possible".
"Chancellor Olaf Scholz is putting Germans and all Europeans in danger. His current policy seriously risks defeat in Ukraine, which would embolden Moscow and raise the likelihood of a wider war with Russia..."

One attack hit an oil refinery in the Nizhny Novgorod region that produces nearly 6% of Russia’s total refined crude.

Videos online showed a major blaze at the Lukoil Norsi oil refinery near Nizhny Novgorod.
An industry source said the main crude distillation unit (AVT-6) at Norsi was damaged, disrupting at least half of the facility’s production.
Nizhny Novgorod is nearly 1,000km (620 miles) from the Ukrainian border and lies about 400km (250 miles) to the east of Moscow.
The strike is the latest evidence of 👍Ukraine’s growing ability to target critical infrastructure deep into Russian territory.

Serhiy Lysak, governor of Dnipropetrovsk region, said: “Two buildings were hit, one five storeys, one nine storeys.
The number of injured is constantly rising as is the number of children injured.”
