The plague doctor

The plague doctor with the beaked mask might not have much to do with Venice — that figure is more likely to be French.

Pink Floyd Plays in Venice on a Massive Floating Stage in 1989; Forces the Mayor & City Council to Resign
Waters proclaimed, “a spent force.” After releasing solo projects in the next few years, David Gilmour, Nick Mason, and Richard Wright soon discovered they would never achieve as individuals what they did as a band, both musically and commercially.

"‘Recipe for disaster’: Venice entry fee sparks confusion and protest on day one" by Angela Giuffrida

"On the first day of what the mayor of Venice has hailed as a bold experiment in reducing over-tourism, day-trippers faced a €5 (£4.30) charge, which kicked in at 8.30am on Thursday and will apply on 29 peak days until 14 July as part of a trial.

The scheme is intended to help the city better manage the millions of tourists that visit every year, even if it only applies to those coming just for the day – and even if, as critics argue, the relatively low cost is unlikely to prove a deterrent."

"Most of the day-trippers arriving at Santa Lucia came prepared with a QR code proving they had paid the toll, but there was still confusion among people with hotel bookings who were unaware they still had to go through the process of confirming their exemption online."

Good morning & if you're in Venice make sure you pay you €5 entry fee to the city which debuts today (and will be levied on the 29 projected busiest days this year).

Enforced by random checks (with fines of €50-300 for non-compliance), many other city authorities will be watching to see what the effects are.

The lobbying to keep the charge low may have lessened its deterrence value for those not staying overnight in the city... but an interesting experiment nonetheless!

It was one of those days in which there was no set schedule, no firm plans, no obligations to meet. The only thing that mattered to them was, whatever they chose to do, they did it together.

They walked, they talked, they ate, they walked some more, and in doing so created a day so perfect and memorable that it stayed in both their hearts, well, forever.

The Venetian constitution

The constitution of the Republic of Venice never really existed. The Venetian nobility just made it up as they went.

This whole concept is so weird. In what universe would a €5 fee dissuade people from visiting Venice anyway?

Boosts appreciated! ❤️

I know this is not my usual kind of post on here, but I want to tell you about the new album of the band Venice: Stained Glass.

I have been accompanying my mum to their yearly concerts in Holland for 12 years now.

These guys are always so kind!

Always liked their music, but with this new album they really blew me away!!

The song "Sorry" is wonderfully catchy!

And also I love "Odds & Ends" and "Souls Connected".

Give it a listen on !!
