I was awake nice and early in this famously damp city.

The Venetians of old could use dream-travel to journey back and forth to their magical city.

And sometimes, they would take others with them...

"The Birds: back in Venice"

Good title for the sequel to Hitchcock's film. Venice and, in particular, Piazza di San Marco would have been the ideal location. I was there and I can confirm it. 🤣

Photo taken seventeen years ago with my little Optio 5n. Most of the doves are blurred but I like the picture.

Capturing the magic of La Befana in Venice on the Grand Canal, Italy's beloved gift-bringer of the Epiphany. A tradition that fills the hearts of children with joy and the streets with the spirit of folklore.
La Befana is a cherished Italian folklore tradition celebrated on January 6th, coinciding with the Epiphany. According to the tale,

I took this in 2022 at Saint Mark's Basilica (Basilica di San Marco) in Venice. St. Mark's Basilica traces its origins back to the year 828 AD when the revered Saint Mark relics were either transported or, regrettably, misappropriated from Alexandria. A bad fire swept through the edifice in 976, but by 978, the church was reconstructed.

Location: Saint Mark's Basilica (Venice, Italy)

Between the 16th and 19th centuries, composers like Antonio Vivaldi and Nicola Popora taught music to orphaned girls at Venice's four Ospedali Grandi. For @TheConversationUS, musicologist Marica S. Tacconi tells the story of how, on a visit to one of the smaller Ospedali, she and singer Liesl Odenweller found, painted in a fresco, a page of sheet music, which will be performed in a concert this December.

The Sphere, Las Vegas is truly a local landmark and icon. I’ve always felt that we had smaller versions of or or . This trip we saw “Postcards from The World” an immersive take on the world and it was spectacular. We also met Aura, the chatty that answered all our questions. I am proud to say that now I feel that Las Vegas has a structure of its own that is truly unique. Not to say massive!
