1st: Have a look at cross-platform applications that are available on the current platform and Linux, and see if they are good for you (e.g. , , , , , ...)

2nd: Is your computer/notebook and your printer etc. well supported by ? Check the internet for it.

3rd: After switching: Look first for software in the distribution repositories and not on the websites of the projects. Install it from the distribution if available.

I've written a guide for people who want to draft papers in #Obsidian and then export to Microsoft #Word with "live" #Zotero citations. That is, the final document will look like a document that was written in Word with Zotero from the beginning, allowing you to edit the citations and generate a bibliography before submitting to a journal.

still asking $60 for 1 year of 6Gb… 😭 @zotero I love you all but it’s 2024 now, maybe you could either reduce the price or increase what we get for it?

Edit: not even 60… just SIX

Anyone know of a good way to collaboratively annotate a PDF? Asking for “new 300 page zoning bylaw just dropped” reasons 😅

@leigh ! Set up a group, put the PDF in its library, then all members can annotate it in the client or the web version.

In case it might be useful to anyone else, I just wrote a quick Chrome extension to download all PDFs on CourtListener when there are multiple attachments to one docket entry.

@molly0xfff You're really becoming proficient in law research! I was going to ask if you'd consider adapting it to a Zotero translator, to import from Court Listener into the Zotero open source bibliography manager, but I saw one was recently added! https://www.zotero.org/ https://github.com/zotero/translators/blob/master/CourtListener.js

Mag mir wer Vorschläge machen, was es alternativ so nettes gibt?

:boost_ok:

EDIT: Bonuspunkte, wenn drauf läuft. Will ja meine Paper direkt lesen können.

Upcoming Zotero 7 adopts Firefox’ Proton UI and looks stunning (for a non-native UI)! You can test the beta today. Keep in mind: it isn’t stable. Don’t use it for other than testing purposes. I’ve already run into some file sync issues while testing.

Windows 11 is trash. Copy-paste has been broken for years, and remains thus. I want copy to work consistently and I want unformatted paste to work consistently. Libre Office does these things better than Word or Notepad 11.

In other news, my move to and has been a huge success.

One of the best-hidden tricks/features:

I love the connector's proxy integration that just let's me click on links to paywalled pieces & routes them through our proxy automatically.
But sometimes I want to share that link w someone at a different institution -- turns out, Zotero has you covered: There's an option to copy the unproxied URL in the right-click on the page

Are there any users out here who have advice for managing their files (academic and )? I am running low on storage because Zotero items are cluttering my C: drive, so I want to move them all to a drive or . And I am wondering if there's a way to rename items so that the file names also make sense to human users. By default, files have a Zotero ID as their names. Not handy for just browsing your storage directly or archiving elsewhere. Ideas welcome! 💡

Oh, wow!! Apparently the @zotero Viewer now supports html as well. You can take a snapshot of a html and annotate it locally! That's a terribly important feature I've been waiting for for a very long time and now it's just there without me even noticing. I'm thrilled 😄

Ok, draft Zotero translator for PROV collection is capturing item metadata, a link to generate a PDF, a like to IIIF manifest, saving the first page image (if digitised). Anything else that would be useful?

Attached screenshot is the result of capturing this item: https://prov.vic.gov.au/archive/0943A677-F7F4-11E9-AE98-F733DFFF76F5?image=1
