For those in the back, a reminder:

Yes, we have a place to stay in Canada. We've been leasing a townhouse there for nearly 2 years.

No, we haven't found a place to buy yet. We've only just begun to look (when we were there last week, our agent showed us 6 houses/townhomes just to get a feel for what we needed). Plus, we missed out on 2 places that sold before we could tour them.

That's where we are as of today.

We move at the end of May.

To all of you whose wonderful, kind, compassionate words and support have been so helpful, I have sad news: Father In Law passed away. Mr. Laffy just called in tears, but there was a small silver lining… FIL got his final wish and died peacefully in his sleep. That was so comforting for all of us. I can never thank you guys enough for your consistent caring and empathy. You’ve been beyond amazing. ❤️💔 #gratitude

Ugh, Father in Law took another fall (he slid off his chair a couple of weeks ago, HUGE bruise on his side, but no broken bones)

This time he fell on his stomach trying to get from his wheelchair to his new bed. Horrible. No broken bones, but lotta pain. He's on so many pain meds now + a Fentanyl patch that hasn't kicked in yet, & they're making him nauseous. It's brutal.

Mr. Laffy and his sister are there now.

Sigh. He shouldn't have to go thru this, but well... 😢

I’m home (Calif). I’m unpacked. Mr. Laffy is with his dad who he said is weak but lucid and doing okay. We’ll be co-adopting his sweet dog Henry, who some of you may remember from photos I’ve shared. We take care of him a lot, but because we go back and forth to Canada, he’ll be with Mr. Laffy’s sister too, maybe permanently at some point. But everything has stabilized for now. Great thanks for helping me through the trip home & for all the empathy. ❤️

For those of you following my sad travel saga: We’re near Redding, CA, we can’t get home before tomorrow evening. Father-in-law took a nosedive. He wants to die, is refusing oxygen (he’s under hospice care) & has gone without it for an hour. 🚨Not good. Sister In Law is w him, waiting for nurse to bring morphine for pain. Things looking dire. Just hope we can be there for him in time. SIL is trying to convince him to hang in, take O2. 😰TY for listening. ❤️Losing connection 👋🏼

Personal note: My regulars know I travel up/down from Calif (where house is) to BC, Canada (where we we got perm resid, lease a townhouse) 6x/yr for a mo. at a time. We split time bc 97 yr old father in law needs us in Calif. He's sharp, but has suffered from congest heart failure for yrs.

He's been weakening over the past wk, nothing imminent, but we're concerned, so we're abruptly cutting our BC trip short, leaving for CA tomorrow instead of 10/26.

💔He needs us.
