Hello comrades.

I'm looking for a solution for archiving and preferably indexing archived documents. I'm thinking like keeping digital copies of utility receipts and expense reports.

Suggestions and boosts appreciated!

YARF! Yet Another Redis Fork.

In today's edition we have Valkey! Valkey is backed by the Linux Foundation and a large number of Redis contributors have moved to Valkey.

Packages are built for Fedora and EPEL.

Fun fact: a lot of potential advertisers for LNL podcasts want to blur the lines between advertising and content. For example they only really want to buy an ad if they can also get someone from their company (often the CEO) on the show to do an interview.

We always say no to that because we have a strict separation between ads and content.

The result is that we sell fewer ads than we could, but that's less of an issue than it used to be thanks to all our wonderful patrons. ❤️

And it makes the podcasts that much better for sure! Thanks for keeping it that way!

Amazon paid employee $350,000 in expenses for non-existent meals and fake happy hours, FBI says

(To be fair, Jeff Bezos earns that in the time it takes to put on one of his socks in the morning...)

ahhh... the network effect....

I wouldn't use it on anything, but if you have to... i'd start by looking if it's possible to use it from a web browser instead of using an app. This way, the browser app will isolate it from having access to your entire device.

This also assumes they know how to tell if it is exposed or not.

I normally setup fail2ban as soon as I know something exposed to the outside.

Looking for a website like tracker control app

Not to long ago I had a website that functioned like the tracker control app. When using the site it would test against a list of trackers and tell me what my 1Blocker app is actively blocking. I cannot for the life of me remember the url or find it. I’m hoping someone here knows what I’m looking for. TIA

If you didn't commit a crime, why should be part of the line up of suspects?

M4rkF,
@M4rkF@fosstodon.org avatar

@knexcar @throws_lemy @Clent

This goes beyond coincidence. This is more like you being a suspect every time some crime is committed. I'm sure in a perfect world you would be proven innocent... but that world doesn't exist and handing over this power to corporate entities and govts only opens it up for abuse.

Could anyone give me recommendations for a password manager? Google is basically useless now and I don't know anywhere else to ask. 😅

So far, I've never found one that I trust enough to use. I do understand the importance but I'm extremely, incredibly hesitant to hand over my passwords to a 3rd party program. I'm even more hesitant to use randomly-generated passwords that I can't memorize as a backup.

All that being said, here's what's important to me:

  • Transparency - public audits, published whitepaper, and/or open source.
  • Export to a printable format. I don't have reliable backups, so this is a must-have!
  • Works with desktop & mobile Firefox.
  • Works on Windows & Linux (I regularly use both).
  • Works on Android - not critical, but would be really helpful.
  • Can work offline (I don't trust any sync server to stay online).

For everything else, I'm more flexible. I don't mind paying a small amount for a better / more trustworthy option, either.

Any suggestions, recommendations, or just boosts are appreciated! Thanks so much in advance! 💙

bitwarden works great for me. You do not have to self-host if you dont want to.
2FAS for OTP allows off-line backups that you can carry around and backup as necessary.
