Nerding out at it's best.

I think I need to watch this a few more times to really understand it, but I love it, when science and textiles crafts meet and people make a deep dive into this.

Fitting help please! @sewing

Faux wrap front. I sized to my bust with. I've already swung 1.5 inches out of the upper bust to the waist, but still have extra fabric and tension issues. Also have trouble keeping the neckline(which is on grain) tight against my bust.

Am remembering why I swore off certain commercial patterns. Every time I have major armscye issues. I initially did a full bust adjustment, but the crazy amount of ease made it a tent. Tried something else.

Have half a mind to just drape to get the look, using the armscye from a size down. Was hoping to do this via pattern manipulation.

@sewblue @sewing

Where there's a wrinkle or gap, pin a dart from gap edge all the way to the opposite seam edge of your muslin. Basically you are taking out length along one edge of the pattern.. Stitch the dart into your muslin and use this new shape as the pattern for your garment.

I hope this helps you. I can recommend free videos, if you'd like.

Cable surgery!

I've widened my shawl beyond its pattern, so was unsure whether to put a cable next to an increase at one point and dropped down later to add it. It never looked quite right though and kept bugging me. Realised I'd done it 1 row too high, so dropped back down and fixed it again.

I found putting a stitch marker on the yarn from each row as I pulled it out and stacking these over the needle made it easier to see what yarn was for what row on the way back up.

My first adult raglan topdown, freehand. Used some leftovers and mixed a thin handdyed merino with a cheap acryl.
Now I don't know, why I was ever scared of raglan. It's so easy.
Still lacks one sleeve and some white details, but it's already my favourite. @knitting

"Some of the rarest creatures in Britain have now made Knepp their home, including kingfishers, hazel dormice, scarce chaser dragonflies and purple emperor butterflies. The river has returned to its natural course and the soil is now storing as much per hectare as a 25-year-old plantation of trees does, according to recent tests."

Billionaires skew everything.

That's why billionaires are a danger to democracy.

Urgh! I think me and knitting patterns are not meant to be.

Take 2 and I totally missed the add one at each end of the next 8 rows.
I need it to say "add 2 - 1 at each end, of the next 8 rows."

@knitting

PatsyBaloney,

You are not alone in your frustration. Very often I have to write out what I am to do for each line of the repeats. I need things spelled out. Then I check each row off as I complete it.

(Some writers of instructions are better than others. I like Rowan patterns but ohmygod they are hard for me to follow. And then patterns from the 70s, 60s, and earlier...its almost like reading code.)

I know that lots of folks here don't like Bluesky (and I understand most of the reasons why), But now that it's open, I tried to explain the reasons why I am excited about it and hope it succeeds. https://www.techdirt.com/2024/02/06/bluesky-opens-up/

PatsyBaloney,

@Chigaze @mmasnick

"As a Twitter iteration though, it feels less like a place for conversation and more for memes, shitposts, and watching various grades of celeb banter. These have their place of course, but they are not a meal."

This goes a long way towards explaining why I just can't get into Bluesky.
