32km long run 2h30m 4:42 avg pace

In Hamilton, ran a segment of the Bruce Trail, 2 loops and some turnarounds to add distance. Turns out trail was a gentle uphill slope for 7.5km, and downhill for half. Also, it rained lol, glad I brought my coat. If I can power through these runs I can deal with motivation-dampening conditions. I’m happy with where I’m at stamina-wise, feeing confident.

Just watched a Thor movie and it struck me how wild it is that we’re still making contemporary stories about characters that were created thousands of years ago.
What’s the oldest character(s) we still make contemporary fiction about? Jesus? Are there contemporary stories of Greek gods? Anything older?

@BlackAzizAnansi there’s a very clear digital paper trail of damnation that explains exactly how terrible the Republican Party is. Like, there was unambiguous reporting in real time how the Trump administration was constantly obstructing justice. It takes less time than a sporting event to learn about relevant recent history that will impact the politics of your entire lifetime. The reason people tuned out is because there were SO many scandals it took up your time to stay informed.

Wednesday: 96 seconds of plank, 20 minutes of strength training, then 11 minutes of yoga for runners, 5.2 km of (8°C), and then 26km of .

Me: Wednesdays should low-effort days.

Also me: Strength training, yoga, a close-to-all-out run, and cycling.

<sighs>

In my defence, I figured a short, higher intensity run probably wasn't a bad idea; nearly 11km/hr @ 166 steps/minute, and I tried to stay on the balls of my feet. This was really hard. 🤔

    Long run - gravelly half, a day earlier in rotation than usual due to family/holidays.

    Chilly temp, 2-4C with some breeze, layered better than last week, windbreaker was clutch. Mostly on trafficked county roads, spent a good deal of time on the gravel shoulder and in ditches to stay safe, felt soft underfoot and not too sloppy. Dry conditions helped. Felt pretty great, gotta ease up on my chill weeks. #running #outdoors

    @LiberalEd @pluralistic “These fat drunks love poison in their water!” I often wonder if it’s a matter of deliberately sabotaging public trust in an institution to then subsequently justify removal of the regulatory body, or if bad actors just pick shots where they can get them. I guess it doesn’t matter, doesn’t change the necessary work to hold people accountable.

    Outdoor half, weather was a motherfucker. Started cold, then rained, then sleeted, then clear. Layered well though, busted out the Endorphin Speed 3s. Legs felt great so I hauled. New PB even though Runkeeper is trolling me saying I’m falling behind my goals, lol what more do you want from me?!

    @Saltssaltgirl literally everything that you can fit in it. All stars for me have been onion rings and fries obv. But also pizza leftovers, chicken wings, broccoli, sweet potato, spring rolls, arancini, souvlaki, garlic bread. Sky’s the limit.

    @GottaLaff They already said out loud they aren’t trying to win elections with voters, they’re going all-in on attacking election administration. That’s why Trump is seizing this particular institution, it was the first thing his crony-in-law said, attacking election integrity.

    8km recovery run, kept it chili. 1mi 7.3, 4mi 7.5 felt pretty loose so that’s a good sign. My legs feel like I’m ready for longer distances, my cardio seems to be the weak point in my goals at this point. And my nipples are just a wreck, seriously distracting more than they should be. #running #treadmill
