@GottaLaff I will note in this case MRG asked both a 2 candidate and 5 candidate version of this. With just 2 Trump’s lead (with leans) was 6.0%, with 5 it was only 3.8%. So according to this poll RFK, Stein, and West collectively hurt Trump more than Biden in MI.

My own poll average currently has Trump up by 3.8%, but a full 15.7% either picking 3rd parties or saying they are undecided.

    No states have crossed the center line recently, but Trump’s lead in a few critical states is finally starting to decrease with the last few days worth of new polls released. More states are “in reach” for Biden even if he is still behind, and the tipping point is dropping.

    The change seems to have roughly started with both candidates clinching their nominations.

    We’ll see over the next few weeks if this is the start of a trend that sticks awhile.

    @shoq @ben @ben.werdmuller Yes, it is a setting. For a Threads user to have their stuff visible on the Fediverse they need to go to the settings in their profile, then the account section, then turn on fediverse sharing. They have to click through a couple of screens explaining what it is as well. It is only one way right now. Fedi can follow and see their posts, not the other way around yet.

    @shoq @ben @ben.werdmuller I haven’t seen any yet. I asked yesterday to see if anybody even had something identifying high profile Threads users who have turned on the option. Crickets. Right now if you are on Threads and click through to an individual post you can see an icon on posts that are federated (but it doesn’t show up on feeds). Once you see that you can manually search for them from the Fedi side and follow. Painful. Or just notice if someone else boosts them into your feed here.

    @shoq @ben @ben.werdmuller @Green_Footballs Yeah, we are only two days in now. It is very early. I'm sure various tools and resources will be popping up soon. And the integration will become more robust. Need the full two way communication for things to take off. And we need a bunch of the big accounts to opt-in. I understand why they did it, but opt-in means it may be awhile (if ever) before various Threads users I would like to follow are followable from here.

    You know, as I sit here watching proceedings on the GA RICO case, I’m thinking the August date for this trial is actually pretty good. There may not be a verdict before the election on this set of charges, but having the trial actually in progress in the lead up to the election, as the only one of these that will be televised, that seems just fine.

    I've just been noticing this last weeks how much better things have gotten over on Threads than in the earliest days of its launch. The feature parity is vastly improved, my timeline is useful and interesting, and a lot more people are over there.

    And then today Joe Biden and The White House joined it. I think Threads is probably going to be the winning replacement for X/Twitter.

    I've said this before and I'll say it again. Americans tend to believe in the legal system and many people take verdicts very ... literally. A criminal conviction by a jury will be very significant for a substantial portion of voters who would otherwise support Trump. No a majority, but enough that he'll be dead in the water.

    Now the bad news is that criminal trial juries are absurdly unpredictable in some ways. Well, in this kind of situation.

    A hung jury is very possible.

    @dancinyogi I only can remember two phone numbers without looking them up these days. My own, and my dad’s. The only reason I remember my dad’s is because it has stayed the same since 1982 when I was 11 years old and I didn’t have a phone that could remember it for me.

    @GottaLaff Last fine was $5k. This time was $10k. If the judge doubles the amount every time, Trump will be broke before we even get to the decision on how much he owes for the fraud the trial is actually about.
