I'd appreciate if you could share this around. As someone opposed to #Spotify for a dozen reasons there was only #Bandcamp that was semi-ethical & gave musicians a fair deal. Bandcamp is under new ownership, had big layoffs, changed their terms & are starting playlists (likely to fill with AI music?). Thankfully coops such as Mirlo offer a place to share our music that doesn't simply enrich dubious tech giants.

Look, the thing about a union is that on one hand, it's there to negotiate working conditions under capitalism and like, I agree with you that this is not an ultimate goal of any sort. On the other hand, once you're IN a union, you're part of an organized, mobilized bloc of labor class ppl working together towards a larger goal. Radical unionism, which is what anarcho-syndicalists are sometimes called, is about taking that organized bloc BEYOND your workspace and using it to do anticapitalism.

@AnarchoNinaWrites I'm reminded of the UK's National Union of Journalists, who've always done right by me, but also the University and Colleges Union, which, err, did not, and was, in fact, run by some of the nastiest, stupidest and just plain corrupt shits imaginable.

So, yes, in full agreement with you about unions, with the caveat that you have to be careful about which one you join, and who you will be organising with.

Today, 17 May, Norway celebrates itself with a ginormous, hyper-nationalistic orgy. Everything in excess is the unofficial motto of the day.
