What do our next door neighbours do for Christmas Eve? Why, yes, they have sent guys to cut down perfectly fine tall pine trees (half a dozen of them). It's likely a developer who purchased that property. Not really.😞

According to another neighbour, the trees are in fact protected and someone from the local council is on their way (on a Christmas Eve Sunday - good luck with that: the developer has chosen this date for a reason.)

Thanks to the council workers showing up, it is stopped for now (the workers could not produce the permit at the moment.) I do not blame the workers, it is just a small business that is hired for a good (holiday) rate, tho there is no chance that they are not aware what is going on. This is what developers do - conduct dirty illegal work on Sunday (ideally public holiday) when nobody's around to stop you. Later, pay the fine if you must, it is just the cost of doing business. Shameful. And I loved those trees. 😿

I first met Arwa in 2018 I believe when we both attended a conference and did an interview together. She interviewed me for her book right before I was fired from Google too. I can't imagine how painful it was to have to write this.

I think it is helpful to read other cases of genocide denial if you want to help yourself figure out what to engage with and what not to engage with. The talking points are exactly the same. All genocides work the same. It was hard to engage with friends and extended family members saying these things during and I sure am not going to entertain that from others now.
