#Firefox is by far the best browser on desktop. Let me be clear, I am not saying that because I am ideologically opposed to using Google products. I use YouTube and Google Workspaces. Chrome genuinely has nothing to offer over Firefox. If your website doesn't work in Firefox then I'm not using your website.
It always would be a cat and mouse game. Browsers get faster and more complex, so webapps creators adapt to most common configuration that bloats everything up making it slow again.
Similiar to building more lanes of road creates more traffic.
Sending text will always be near instant compared to sending JavaScript app that pulls WebAssembly app that then pulls assets to render a website as a layer on to of normal rendering engine.
I'm very excited to be presenting at FOSDEM in February! I've been working on messaging interoperability for about 2 years now with much of that focus being on developing an open standard for that exact purpose. We'll be exploring how #Matrix works as an existing decentralized open standard for interoperable communications, and how other protocol development work interacts with Matrix.
Thanks for this video s... I mean @thelinuxEXP for laptop reviews. Having many models I was interested in reviewed by single person really helps to make a choice.
The device here is #Tuxedo Infinitybook Pro 14. Maybe I'll do a review myself if I find free moment.
When I written bot with matrix-nio library I think it is possible to send message, just call the send code outside of recieving event code.
But the library lack documentation, very much, when I was using it there were just a couple of examples.
I think of selfhosting a single user instance with Hetzner. What VPS do you think would be sufficient/fitting? Please keep in mind, that I don't want to spend that much money on it.
Oh and I will probably run glitch-soc...
How to post content on #Matrix room that admin cannot remove? :blobcatpolicepeek:
Write a message, delete it and put your real message as a reason for deletion.
Lots of smart and security-oriented folks are confused about what exactly a passkey is. There’s a good reason for that. We explain here: https://www.eff.org/what-is-a-passkey

Panel serwerów WWW na home.pl nie pozwala na przesłanie własnego certyfikatu SSL. Po zapytaniu się o taką opcję dostałem odpowiedź, że ich dział IT może odpłatnie certyfikat zainstalować🤦♂️.
Peertube is to Youtube what Mastodon is to Twitter. But better because people don’t need to create an account, they can subscribe to your videos channel directely with their Mastodon account (or other Fediverse tool).
Was reminded recently that Discord has taken nearly $1 billion in VC cash: https://tracxn.com/d/companies/discord/__5rlLgsamoGCjo5gATenpy383J_jyBToAQkMl2B_f99w
No judgment if you've already built a community there, but everyone really needs to treat it as a ticking time bomb. It's already failed its users many times over; it's just a question of when those failures will escalate beyond even the most indifferent user's tolerance. Every community deserves better. Good alternatives are a survival imperative.
Having real time communication, voice and video calls, permission managment and redundant data across servers is of course a more complicated protocol than ActivityPub, which is basically pulling list of posts.
