Was just browsing bsky’s open feed to see how that works and within 3 clicks I was back on mstdn :blobhappy:

To be honest I find Bsky still so messy, not only the code build up but also the platform itself

My guess is that people find it ‘more easy’ compared to Mastodon for example because you’ll be signing up on their server by default

Not sure if that’s a good thing though

dynode,
@dynode@mas.to avatar

@stux

IMO both platforms function quite well but I like Mastodon more, less clout chasers and "one-way" accounts that only broadcast...

Dear European based LGBTIQ+ people.. (so basically everybody).

Today I attended an event in organized by @waag @DeGroene @gemeenteamsterdam and the Amsterdam public library called

Featured speaker this time was Euro Member of Parliament @kimvsparrentak who passionately spoke on the need for a more free Internet detached from and more focussed on and real interaction.

When confronted with her presence on X and Insta, and the lack of active presence here on the we promised to help her.

Please help us get a decent follower-base here and follow her account right now, before she even gets a chance to get more active. A follower base of more than a 1000 people will surely help her convince her party members to spend time and money on a real presence here.

I used a cut out of the image posted by @sicco in this post: https://todon.nl/@sicco/112372340250592627 thank you for that Sicco.

Nuclear reactors are even less of an eye-sore ❤️☢️

Yeah, that's why France is bankrupt and the reason certain non-western nations are definitely not deploying multitudes of them 🤡

It somehow escaped my notice until now that in 2021, the FCC finally allowed CB radio users to transmit FM as well as AM and SSB. In addition to reducing static and improving audio quality, it also serves to filter out all the truckers yelling vile language into overmodulated microphones. https://www.ccjdigital.com/technology/article/15114521/fcc-approves-fm-mode-for-cb-radios

dynode,

@vwestlife

I have never known differently, here in the EU CB is mostly FM.

@collectifission@greennuclear.online avatar

Not only has used fuel been stored safely for decades, it can be reprocessed into fuel for the future.

Used fuel safely stored could potentially power us for centuries, via fast breeder reactors. No more mining needed, solving the waste problem at the same time.

dynode,
@dynode@mas.to avatar

@musictraveler @collectifission

The "natural reality" is that nuclear on average is quite safe. Yes, accidents do happen and will happen in the future.
But accidents also happen with other energy sources and (especially) fossil fuels kill much, much more people than nuclear ever will.

dynode,
@dynode@mas.to avatar

@kravietz @collectifission @musictraveler

Yeah, but "progressives" with privileged lives don't give AF and continue to dunk on nuclear 🤷

dynode,
@dynode@mas.to avatar

@musictraveler @kravietz

"without any knowledge of its reality"

I have been in nuclear reactors, I have been in labs in which radioisotopes are used. I own radiation meters, even built them myself. I have a small library of books about nuclear physics.

Same probably goes for the other people in this thread. We are educated by facts, you just make judgements based on emotion.

dynode,
@dynode@mas.to avatar

@musictraveler @kravietz

I never worked in the nuclear business and have no ties to it.

I just had the luck and opportunity to visit places which work with nuclear technology.

dynode,
@dynode@mas.to avatar

@musictraveler @kravietz

Also, the "industry" is more than nuclear power. Radioisotopes are produced for biochemical research and diagnostic/therapeutic medical applications.
Even a "mundane" profession as dentistry requires nuclear technology in the form of x-ray photography.

I hope you consider those valid uses of radioactivity...

dynode,
@dynode@mas.to avatar

@musictraveler @kravietz

But they are.

The (civilian) nuclear fuel for both power and research/medical purposes is made and processed in certain facilities like (France) and (Netherlands).
And you can be quite sure that people and organisations are active in both power generation and research/medicine.

dynode,
@dynode@mas.to avatar

@musictraveler @kravietz

But you have claimed quite clearly that reactors are dangerous and create dangerous waste.

Even isotope/research reactors can have significant power and generate amounts of waste that need to be handled properly.

So your opinion on this seems to be conflicting.

dynode,
@dynode@mas.to avatar

@musictraveler @kravietz

It's the same tech. Enriched uranium, a moderator and neutrons flying about. Only the scale is different.

And in general anti-nuclear people are opposed to it, maybe you should be too for the sake of consistency? 😋

Austria's governing party "ÖVP" has launched a campaign about austrian "Leitkultur". If you do not behave like an Austrian, you should leave. They've also set up a comission tasked with codifying this into law. Not shitting you.

So I built a new thing. LEITKULTUR-O-MAT. A chatbot that thinks and replies like your average Austrian. In Austrian dialect.

https://leitkulturomat.marioslab.io

The scary part is, that it's actually pretty close to your average Austrian...

As we do our silly Chicago tradition of dyeing the river a violent shade of green, I think it's a good time to remind people that our ancestors reversed the flow of the river to provide safe drinking water from Lake Michigan and earlier, in the 1860's, lifted the entire city to improve drainage and public health.

Remember that any time someone says heat pumps and renewable energy are hard.

dynode,
@dynode@mas.to avatar

@TechConnectify

Heat pumps and renewable energy -are- hard for lots of people.

Because they require investments which people don't have the money for. And there are also other factors like apartment buildings that have to deal with HOA stuff regarding insulation upgrades, and overloaded electrical grids. Like in my home town, there is talk of shutting off EV charging points because they draw too much power.

Sadly, the reality is even more disappointing if you read into it.

This is a German open pit mine, and coal is still heavily used in Germany, -despite- the , in which over €100B has been invested already. Still, is one of Europe's most polluting countries when it comes to electricity generation.

Additionally, Germany consciously chose to use for the "transition" and shut down perfectly working, clean .
