Very important for Swedes to vote in the EU Election. Privacy is a fundamental human right, even when there are bad people doing bad things. Mass surveillance by the government does more harm than good.

“International campaign group Global Witness created 16 ads targeting Irish audiences with false information about this week’s EU elections and tried to get them approved by three platforms.

TikTok, which is particularly popular with young voters, approved all 16 for publication, YouTube caught 14 while X filtered all the ads and suspended the group’s fake accounts, Global Witness said in its report.”

MEP Marcel de Graaff office was just searched by police in relation to links of one of his employees with disinformation campaigns. Shortly after de Graaff posted a statement on Twitter claiming the following:

By the way, I have no involvement whatsoever in any so-called Russian disinformation operation. I have my own political beliefs and I proclaim them. That is my job as a MEP.

To which Bellingcat’s Elliot Higgins promptly recalled how in April 2022 de Graaff publicly laughed off their investigation into massacres.

    @fj And non-belgian EU citizens that live in Belgium can register in the Belgian voters registry to vote for Belgian candidates. This is the same all across the EU. I am dutch, live in Germany and can now vote for German candidates. I could even become a candidate myself.

    Since 1853, France has been occupying the islands of New Caledonia against the wishes of the Indigenous Kanak people. In the 1870s, the French government exiled the anarchist Louise Michel and many other participants in the Paris Commune uprising there.

    In 1878, the Kanaks revolted against French oppression. Ataï, one of the leaders of the revolt, achieved several victories against the occupiers. After he was finally betrayed, the French colonizers cut off his head and brought it back to Paris. They refused to return it until 2014.

    Today, colonialism continues in New Caledonia. The French government has just sent 1200 more police officers there from Paris to suppress the latest uprising.

    Like Louise Michel, we support Indigenous struggles against colonialism. Get France out of New Caledonia.

    Yesterday I presented at the NL-NCSC / @SURF / @ACCSS symposium "Cyber Security & Society". According to Donald Tusk we are entering a new pre-war era, and I fear that he is right. I also fear that we do not have anything near a "war-time resilient" level of control over the IT infrastructures that our societies depend on utterly. We are sitting ducks & it is getting worse.
