#Netherlands MEP Marcel de Graaff office was just searched by police in relation to links of one of his employees with #Russia disinformation campaigns. Shortly after de Graaff posted a statement on Twitter claiming the following:
By the way, I have no involvement whatsoever in any so-called Russian disinformation operation. I have my own political beliefs and I proclaim them. That is my job as a MEP.
To which Bellingcat’s Elliot Higgins promptly recalled how in April 2022 de Graaff publicly laughed off their investigation into #Bucha massacres.
#Russia lieutnant Azatbek Omurbekov (Азатбек Омурбеков) was one of the tank commanders proudly presented on the Moscow 9 May victory parade. Omurbekov is mostly known for his role in the mass-scale execution of #Ukraine civilians in #Bucha - he was the commander who issued the orders to “kill any civilians with smartphones”. In recognition of his heroism, Omurbekov was granted Hero of Russia medal.
"This is a war to prevent anyone from daring to become a beast toward others," Zelensky said in comments commemorating the Bucha massacre. "And the bodies of our people, which were found on the streets of Bucha, demonstrated that no one in the world can stay away from this battle."
> In the early days of Russia's full-scale invasion of #Ukraine, Russian forces took the city of Bucha and killed hundreds of civilians. The troops withdrew on March 31, 2022. Residents of Bucha are still working to identify the victims and pushing for the atrocities to be recognized as war crimes.
This is a huge package just arrived from Ukraine, by my collaborator Maksym.
Soooo much stuff!! Ukrainian sweets definitely encounter my taste.
Everything here has a small meaning, this one in particular is moving: it's a
package of cookies from a factory which reopened in #Bucha, some time after the horrific massacre.
“In Istanbul [March 29, 2022 Negotiations], we still didn’t understand the type of war that Russia was waging, its genocidal intent,” Mykhailo Podolyak explained. “Once we returned from Istanbul, and the Russians left the Kyiv region, we saw the beastly crimes that they had committed there. And we understood that Russia will try to annihilate Ukraine no matter what. Negotiations are pointless for them.”
Schools in Ukraine grapple with the heavy impact of war.
In the Kyiv suburb of Bucha, schoolchildren are back in class, but in areas close to the front line, in-person classes are still the exception. In Kharkiv, classes are sometimes held in metro stations.

In contrast to Olena, Tetyana Venger, a 61-year-old originally from Odessa, has family in Israel.
She now lives in the country, luckily far away from #Gaza, but sees parallels between the two conflicts.
"I live in northern #Israel, and for now, it's peaceful here. However, the scenes of violence against civilians are very reminiscent of how the Russian forces were killing people in #Bucha,” Tetyana explains.
In his daily video address, Zelenskyy extends his condolences to the victims of #Hamas and confirms that the terrorist organization has also murdered at least two Ukrainians. He calls for unity in the face of Islamist and Russian terrorism: “Terror has opened too many fronts against humanity.” #Ukraine#Israelhttps://t.me/V_Zelenskiy_official/8119
#Zelenskyy: “Israeli journalists who have been […] in #Bucha are now saying that they saw the same evil where Russia came,” the difference being “that there is a terrorist organization that attacked #Israel and here is a terrorist state that attacked #Ukraine.” He notes “the shocking joy” of Russian propagandists. “They call children who are being held hostage by terrorists in #Gaza ‘trophies.’” Just as “Russia has captured thousands of Ukrainian children.”
A court in the city of Mytishchi near Moscow sentenced environmental activist #Aleksandr#Bakhtin to six years in prison on August 11 on a charge of distributing fake news about the Russian armed forces.
The charges stemmed from three posts about Russia's ongoing invasion of Ukraine in which Bakhtin wrote about Russian soldiers’ alleged #atrocities in the Ukrainian city of #Bucha, near Kyiv, and other places.
Bakhtin also directly accused Russian President Vladimir #Putin of plans to blockade Kyiv.
#Wagner has been one of the biggest recipients of the #Russian Defense Ministry. It was never really separate and #Putin s confession only confirms it. From #mh17 to #Bucha to #mariupol every new atrocity should end the pathetic "we didn't know, we can't be sure."
