WTF is KHTML?

Chances are you are kind of using it, because #WebKit and #Blink rendering engines are all forked from this open-source project originally intented for the browser of the KDE window environment.

That basically makes #Opera, #Safari, #Chrome, #Chromium and #Brave (and possibly others) all siblings.

KHTML is literally the mother of all browsers.

I'm a forty-something IT professional that started his career tinkering with the C64 in the 80s.

I was on Twitter for a few years but that appears to be going down the drain lately, so figured I check out this Mastodon-thing.

Interests are music, technology, programming, electronics, 3D printing and retro-computing. My partner would say I have too many C64s and MCUs. (I'd strongly disagree.)

Hope to meet new people and have a fun and interesting time on here.

Bonus:

The environment variable TIME_STYLE is also honoured, so you can permanently make this the default in .bashrc or whatever.

It's really great how John Mastodon coded the hashtag-functionality here on this platform.

The ability to follow them so they "just" appear in the feed is great and really helps out!

I asked a question because I was looking for some utility and got an answer in 30 minutes that was really useful too. 🥳

(I've asked technical questions on the birdsite and that always resulted in -checks notes- exactly zero answers.)

I recently discovered some comedians on YouTube, and I just watched dealing with a transphobic heckler which goes of the rails.

If you are triggered by transphobic comments in a way that it can screw up your day, you might not want to watch it because the heckler says some really stupid stuff.

If you however enjoy hecklers humiliating themselves it's a great 28 minutes.
