🌟 Last week, an intriguing auction hit eBay — the badge of Apple Employee No. 10. There was just one small problem — it was a total forgery.

Enjoy: https://cabel.com/2024/05/16/the-forged-apple-employee-badge/

We now have WiFi on the #PicoGUS emulating an ne2000 card! yyzkevin (who did the SB DSP work released a while ago) was responsible for this with a bit of help from me between days here at #VCFEast. Awesome!

Kevin Moonlight just released a video demonstrating his Pi Pico-based PCMCIA card that can emulate NE2000 over Wi-Fi, serial port, and Sound Blaster for retro laptops, handhelds, and other computers. He's gauging interest in the project for a future build, so if you're interested in one there's a link in the description to a form.
Kevin is great, he was responsible for the bulk of the SoundBlaster DSP support that was just released on ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoJ12leojwo

Well it took 41 years but I finally own my first 5 ¼" floppy disk

I kept seeing this disk for sale on eBay and wanted to know what was actually on it, so I bought an Epson floppy drive and was able to connect it to my Applesauce to image it

The raw FAT12 disk image is on IA: https://archive.org/details/bbsc83

It appears to be a "BBS (Bulletin Board System) written in UNIX SYSTEM-III "C"" written by Mike Kelly, last edited 07/07/1983

f15sim,

@jcs You might want to export that as IMD as well, and export the files off of the disk.
An interesting note about what you've found - it was also known for being for BDS C on CP/M. Check it out: http://software.bbsdocumentary.com/AACPM/CPM/BBSC/

The Mastodon feature I really want is that I'd love to be able to attach a disclaimer to literally every post:

"If I'm not specifically asking a question, I do not want suggestions on how to workaround any problems I'm stating.

If it is a question, but you do not personally have specific domain knowledge, please do not search the Internet for it as this is something I can do myself."

So I think got my online as well! It's currently running SubText on MacWorks/ System 6.0.8 with 2MB of memory over a PPP connection!

Ok so it worked for about 30 minutes, the BBS was packed, all nodes busy! There was a multi user chat!

Then it just stopped responding. Oh well! I'll try again soon. =)

The is still working. The new SCC chip seems like it's doing well (I hope!).

Help me test it by dialing into the BSS!

2.0 is officially released! It's an ISA card that can emulate Gravis Ultrasound, Adlib, CMS, Tandy 3-voice, MPU-401 w/ Intelligent Mode, and gameport joysticks!
This new version is 100% factory assembled and ready to just plug and play.
And it's open hardware: all design files are available under CERN OHL v2 Permissive license, so if you want to make (or improve) your own you can!
Available at my Tindie Store: https://www.tindie.com/products/polpo/picogus-sound-card-emulator-for-isa-retro-pcs/

Well, I just placed orders for boards and parts to build a new Lisa 2/5 around my existing Lisa CPU card, the only part of a Lisa I’ve ever owned.

I would never have thought this was possible if it weren’t for the work of @DosFox who recently built the first new Lisa since 1986! Thanks for the inspiration!

I’ll continue this thread as parts roll in. I may ask (beg) if folks have some parts in your bins! 😀

paulrickards,
@paulrickards@mastodon.social avatar

And the v2 has an ace up its sleeve: it has DaynaPORT emulation baked in! So the Lisa now has WiFi access! Here’s the Wikipedia app by @jcs working.

paulrickards,
@paulrickards@mastodon.social avatar

I decided to try the desktop 50 pin version of the V2 and the seems to work great with it! Pings work, telnet works, apps don’t corrupt on exit, disk parity errors are gone!

So let’s try this thing out! I put the Lisa Clone back up again (it may be a day or two old from the last time it was run, sorry, disk corruption!)

Telnet to bbs.mc68000.com port 6400 and try it out!

Thanks to @nulleric and @jcs for their help!
