I really like that idea of using white reflective paint to reduce climate change by reflecting some of the sun's rays back into space! We'd have to cover a huge area though, so maybe we could paint the desert, or a floating platform in the ocean? We could even make the platform out of ice, if we float it somewhere cold! And snow is white! We don't even need paint! So if we cover millions of square miles of the ocean with a giant ice sheet, we could reflect a lot of the sun's rays!

🤔 Oh wait...

There's actually some good data on using relatively low quality, inexpensive mirrors to reflect sunlight that has the additional benefit of reducing ground temperature and moisture loss when placed above crops.
Actually deploying is quite the challenge, but it's potentially doable.

As most folks know, each Mastodon instance (server) is moderated by the instance admin (or people helping/working for the admin).

If an admin doesn't do a decent job moderating their instance, it's not going to stay connected to the rest of the Fediverse for long nor garner many users.

This is perhaps the most important characteristic of Mastodon/the Fediverse and sets it apart from all other social media.

The left of center members care about the jurisprudence of the Court and the significant impact it had on our lives.

The reactionary right-wing members care only about using their made up doctrines to achieve the political goals of the "conservative" movement and the oligarchs who fund it. The billionaire paid perks are their just rewards for their work.

The last time someone in our household got Covid, we were able to keep it from spreading to anyone else. ♥️🙏🏿 This time we were not so lucky. My Covid high score streak is finally broken! Rona got me y'all!

Completely unscientific observations of how this thing looks to have beat our mitigations:

Experts panic over Florida tourism as major conventions flee state’s 'unfriendly political environment'

Convention organizers are pulling out of Florida

When asked for a reason why they were scrapping plans, one organizer wrote simply: “Governor DeSantis.”

Thousands of dollars are also being lost by restaurants and attractions by visitors going elsewhere.

...Community Schools Conference – it also pulled out of more than 2,000 hotel rooms.

I have mixed feelings, though having read that the failure rate of bomblets is 2-3% vs over 20% in cold war era munitions - and of course current Russian munitions - and given all other factors, I will support this.

(The high failure rate is what makes use of cluster bombs very dangerous for civilians after the fighting is over.)

    This is just not true.
Trump has a role in the accelerating authoritarianism in the GOP, but his is very far from the only role.

The cruelty competition among GOP presidential candidates and state governments as well as the tall pile of antidemocratic moves by state legislatures show that the GOP base and the Party establishment in the states is all in on the project.
