Just realized that yesterday was my one year anniversary on Mastodon 🎉

While I miss the connections I had on Twitter, Mastodon provides a better experience.

I love the algorithm-free feed, custom clients, edit button, and no ads — it’s so good!

Yesterday my wife was supposed to get water while she was out shopping, but it slipped her mind.

So later I went out specifically for water. I loaded the empty 5 gal jugs into the car and drove into town, only to realize I left the lids for the jugs at home 🤦‍♂️

So after I drove back home and made a third trip into town, we successfully procured some water.

The #ADHD tax is really a bitch.

You don't need to use the official Mastodon apps, they're not the best way to use Mastodon. The official apps only arrived last year, and they were intended as "Fisher Price My First Mastodon" things with a restricted set of features.

Third party apps have been around longer than official ones, and include way more features. You can sign in with the same account on all apps.

:android: On Android try Tusky, Fedilab, Megalodon, Tooot

:apple_inc: On iPhone/iPad, try Toot!, Ice Cubes, Ivory, Mona

These should be happy pictures but they’re sad. We have a small lot and now that the kids are big we’ve turned half the backyard into a bee pasture, which looks great. Except for… the buffet’s open but nobody’s coming. As in, almost no bees. A few years ago you could hear the buzz from every direction. Commercial bee population is being nursed along by professional beekeepers, but your wild native city bees are just missing.

No it hasn't. I literally migrated to Mastodon from Twitter, and I don't use Twitter anymore, but I do use Mastodon every day.

I call that a successful migration.

Overall I'm kind of just of the view that blocking Meta's hypothetical server preemptively is just the most… performative, useless gesture

To annoy everyone who reads this for a moment, however:

It does encompass what many leftists (and liberals) seem to think of as "taking action." A nice moral test. Easy to pontificate about. Feels good. Let's you talk in grandiose terms. Easy for an individual to do. Largely ineffective both short and long term.

If you’d asked me just twelve hours ago whether I hoped to be able to post a picture for #Caturday, I would have said “no”.

I would have said I’d given up all hope of #Tigger coming home after 26 days away 😿

And I would have been wrong 😱

As it is, I’m just amazed & grateful that he returned shortly after midnight last night. Very skinny, but otherwise seemingly well & very loud 😺🥰
