Hyundai reveals ambitious $50 billion investment to secure a World Top 3 spot in the EV market.

31 different model lines being developed across pricevranges. Factories being built in the US (Georgia) and Korea.

50 Billion investment in EVs.

kevinrns,
@kevinrns@mstdn.social avatar

I think Hyundai and others are using US big three auto reluctance to fully commit to EVs, to caoture the market from them.

Chrysler /Jeep(Stellantis) and Ford and GM are dragging their feet and mewling to Biden that its too hard.

Too HAR-RRRD.

So Korean Hyundai (already world's 3rd largest car company) and other countries, are using that foot dragging to fully capture the US market. They are building manufacturing in the US.

kevinrns,
@kevinrns@mstdn.social avatar

Canada and the US once had a great treaty called the auto-pact. U der the AutoPact, between the US and Canada, autos could be sold on either side of the border as if home made, becauae for every car sold in either country, a car must be made. Not individual cars equivalnces, but as an industry. Sell 125,000 vans? Build 125,000 vehicles. So that importing never meant job loss.

Lets bring back the autopact, make it world wide and ubiquitous.

Restore demand.

@StillIRise1963

"Im not racist" someone pointed out, isnt a fully true statement.

"I am working hard agaist racism" is not the same as '"I stand by and dont say racist things."

Being not racist means actively exposing, actively defending, actoiely shutting down, actively joining in demands and defense.

Racism is an assault, an attack. You are actively involved in endding racism, or you are helping racists.

    FDR, Truman, Eisenhower with tax rates on the ultra wealthy, with rising wages encouraged, with unions encouraged and strong, drove the longest economic boom ever.

    Ever.

    Biden is recreating that boom raising wages, taxing the untaxed giant corporations, and spending on climate, free heat pumps, vast offshore wind farms.

    And it works a peach. Join a union, save the country, demand a living wage, save the economy.

    Dollar Tree and its subsidiary Family Dollar are closing 1,000 stores.

    According to Dollar Tree CEO Rick Dreiling, who makes 951 times the $14,702 median pay of his employees, โ€œPersistent inflation and reduced government benefits continue to pressure the lower-income consumers that comprise a sizable portion of Family Dollarโ€™s customer base."

    Corporate profits account for about 53% of greedflation.

    Dollar Tree employees are among the top recipients of government safety net programs, such as Medicaid and food stamps (SNAP) benefits.

    Maybe, just maybe, if predatory corporate chain stores like Dollar Tree would pay their employees a living wage, they could generate profit the good old fashioned way, by selling retail goods to customers that need or want them. Just a thought.

    This is exactly true. The economy we have is supply and demand, goods supplied to wallets demanding goods.

    Destroying demand is what cripples the economy..

    Biden added extra taxes on the richest corporations to spend on climate, AND helped raise WAGES, now rhe US has the lowest unemployment in history.

    AND Added 350,000 in January

    AND added 275,000 jobs in FEBRUARY.
