A thread (I hope)... 🧵 1/n

This is an open invitation to anyone at all to reply here and drop a link to your shop: merch, music, tshirts, pottery, wall art, prints, crafts, games, digital assets, jewelry, etc.

The annual gift buying frenzy starts approx now and this year I'd like to support real working artists as directly as possible.

Please post a link with a few interesting images.

Maybe others will drop into the thread and find things to buy as well.

Boost please. ♻️

Here is my personal plea for you.

If possible in any way: Go somewhere you can experience the totality of the eclipse this year.

If you've never experienced one, it is better than you can imagine.

Celestial mechanics become real in a way that is awe inspiring. You'll experience a strange melange of smallness paired with a connectedness unlike almost any other event in your life.

Make plans now.

I really want to see succeed. But I don't see many videos slide across my feed. It feels like PeerTube videos don't achieve wide federation.

I think this is because people don't follow as many PeerTube accounts and because PeerTube accounts don't post as often as Mastodon or other microblogging accounts.

Consider this... there isn't much downside to following all PeerTube accounts that you come across and boosting their posts because they are few and infrequent.

Did you know that the fediverse has a soundtrack? Three in fact. You should be listening to - music made by fedi artists.

For silent Sunday, you might try the Comfy stream...

Omg. l just found a scam. It is a fake obit. Pulls info from public sites. Find common thread. Posts new obit with wrong info, dates, photos, supposedly posted by someone you know. When you try to contact them to correct info you are contacting the scammer. These are posted on legit sites. Omg. Brilliant and terrible.

I almost always boost time lapse videos of someone doing their visual art. I find it fascinating.

Wondering what a "timelapse" of someone creating music might look/sound like. Something that expresses the creativity in music creation in a condensed form.

Thinking of the Basquiat quote "Art is how we decorate space, music is how we decorate time." — and the fact that final visual art can be taken in instantly (more or less) while music results require large time investment by the listener...

Listening through... I'll just say it, you'll never get a better value for your money. There is so much good stuff here it is kind of amazing. Every track evolves.

...and I know from listening along during January as well Traiken can work to a prompt and is ready to do your soundtrack.

Any tips on forcing to federate edits when you update and save a post?

Consider giving a little to your server admin in the coming year if you don't already.

You can usually find the donation link for your server in the site's about section...

Teeny Statue of Liberty Museum

First thing you should know is the proprietor is great. I was a little concerned this might be a right wing nut location ... But nope! Highly recommend this weird little place. His spiel is great.

Running community radio is hard work. It usually takes dozens of people to manage. was built and is maintained by one person, largely.

I've had luck to peek inside a major community radio station (KXCI) and what has been accomplished so far by RFF is amazing by comparison.

Consider this a fundraising drive to ensure RFF can endure in 2024.

If you love RFF, consider giving a little. Or a lot, if you've got it to give!

And don't forget to support the fedi artists themselves who contribute music and voiceovers and station identification, etc.

You can find the now playing info on the web site https://radiofreefedi.net and see recently played tracks in a number of ways:

Within those links you can find the artist's fedi profile links and artist support links.

Tomorrow is which means artists keep more of the money from sales.

The challenge is done and I'm polishing some of the tracks I made and releasing them as EPs. Here is the first, it is called "Airfield" and includes the tracks made on the 4th and 5th.

There is so much more music on the webring than appears at first look. Many of these are label sites with many artists, each with many releases.
