    I’ve been on three juries and in two other pools that the jury was chosen before my number came up. It’s never taken more than four hours even at a crawling pace.

    I can’t imagine the things that would go on to take two weeks to choose the jury. I’d rather stab myself in the eyes than go through that.

    To all of you whose wonderful, kind, compassionate words and support have been so helpful, I have sad news: Father In Law passed away. Mr. Laffy just called in tears, but there was a small silver lining… FIL got his final wish and died peacefully in his sleep. That was so comforting for all of us. I can never thank you guys enough for your consistent caring and empathy. You’ve been beyond amazing. ❤️💔

    Ugh, Father in Law took another fall (he slid off his chair a couple of weeks ago, HUGE bruise on his side, but no broken bones)

    This time he fell on his stomach trying to get from his wheelchair to his new bed. Horrible. No broken bones, but lotta pain. He's on so many pain meds now + a Fentanyl patch that hasn't kicked in yet, & they're making him nauseous. It's brutal.

    Mr. Laffy and his sister are there now.

    Sigh. He shouldn't have to go thru this, but well... 😢

    Pedestrians, it should be our right to be distracted. It should be our right to walk and listen to music / look at the sky / cute dogs / snowflakes and not worry about getting killed. Nothing about that is dangerous except for CARS. Don't let them make you believe you are the problem.

    I wanted to ask the question: would you think the time is right for an NBA team expansion?

    I would say yes just because of 2 reasons:

    1. talent pool of basketball players. Look at the international tournament results from the last few years

    And 2) Lower the amount of games played and address the whole load management storm that has been brewing the last few years.

    Electric vehicle sales in the US were up 50% year over year in Q3. While Tesla is still the 800lb gorilla from a marketshare perspective it’s dipped from 62% to 50% share.

    This is a contrary trend to the thesis behind its massive valuation — that Tesla will effectively be bigger than the rest of the auto industry as EVs take over.

    Analysts are hoping the Cybertruck reverses the trend. The problem is it looks terrible while other car makers have sexier cars coming.

    the funniest thing about Apple is the last version of MacOS features "video reactions" where if your camera sees you do a thumbs up or heart symbol with your hands, stuff happens behind you like fireworks in ANY video app you are using BY DEFAULT.

    A friend was in an online therapy session, describing his trauma so the therapist asked if he was alright and he did a thumbs up and then HUGE FIREWORKS BEHIND HIS HEAD.

    It's so bad that online therapy sessions now start with a warning dialog!

    Yesterday I spoke to an MIT sophomore hoping to get an interview for a Google internship. The student has already done one summer internship at another company, enters programming competitions, and has coursework in machine learning, distributed systems, and neuroscience. So far they have submitted over 40 internship applications.🤯

    From all their applications, they've only gotten two OAs (online assessments), and no interviews.

    It is so much harder for kids today than when we were young.
