@augieray It is not possible to not vote. Being absent from the ballot box still biases the result one way or another - just with zero application of your wishes to the process.
May I ask what chipset your Wifi is? Mine is realtek and it's been a right pain in the rear end. I'm on MX Linux on a 5.18 kernel, thinking of going late model with it.
UNIX was created back in the day when we couldn't afford vowels, and many consonants. So common commands had to be shortened a little bit:
"Copy" becomes "cp"
"List" becomes "ls"
"Rename" becomes "mv" and so on.
But fear not. Soon systemd will restore the balance with long command names again. This is 2024 and 70's okay?
Watching Twitter for the past year, I realize how many people who were so widely respected there for years, were actually rather shallow and self-interested, but quite talented as plagiarists. They generated millions of posts without a single unique thought or idea, yet were widely praised as “thought leaders,” citizen-pundits, and influencers. We live in very strange times.
Work dev box will be going to Ubuntu from another distro, house NAS will be too.
Nothing else cracks the reliability and support threshold, and I'm sorry Mint is just Ubuntu tuned up.
New music machine will be going to Windows (10 pro if I can avoid 11) because I'm done with Linux music and audio.
Appropriate environments for target use cases.
I've experimented with MX and it's good but not 100% there. Might give Fedora a try again but only experimentally, not on important boxen.
Clementine/Strawberry have existed for years. Heck VLC too.
Winamp isn't relevant anymore and this is all a little sad. It reminds me of when Slashdot grandiosely offered up their (mass of perl and mess) forum software and everyone said, yeah, no.
@whitequark
Due to support issues I'm going to have to go back to fing Ubuntu, after living Poettering free (cept for Pulse, goddammit) in a different distro.
I hate systemd soooooo much.
Really hoping I can dodge Snap, which is another example of the same fwitism.
