Why do we get more mad at distributors of content when said content is pulled from services due to licensing issues than we do at those who own the licensing rights? Or those who drafted the licensing laws that are being abused in this way for that matter?

I honestly think has missed the boat on this one. Those who care about will already be on or ; and those who don't care won't pay the extra to get it. The fact the aforementioned three services all include lossless in their base subscriptions while it will be an extra tier on Spotify won't help matters.

If they'd gone lossless a year ago it might have mattered. Now, not so much

I've said it before about the slew of powerful and expensive handheld gaming devices that have come on the market since the , but I'll say it again....people who buy handheld devices don't really want an expensive and powerful device that compromises portability. They want a light, ergonomic, affordable device that gives satisfactory performance for the games they play. have known this for decades which is why they've had the market cornered. Other companies don't seem to get it

I think it’s a bit weird to be drawing comparisons between and . Safari doesn’t and likely will never have the web browser market share and thus complete dominance that IE had. Its market share is tiny in comparison. A better comparison would be the browser and the engine itself built on (yes it’s important to include the engine too) and you’ll see that Google’s dominance is more far reaching than Safari on iOS and is probably on the same level as IE back in the day at this point.

The “browser choice” warriors love to focus on iOS and ignore the bigger issue of the dominance of the engine in the wider web browser market. All it’s doing is handing the keys of the web over to Google.

Use Safari or .

Last year, FF XVI was a flop (according to "industry analysts"), now is "under performing" when compared with a game that released in the middle of a lockdown and before a cost of living crisis. Then there is the fact Remake released at the end of the PS4 lifecycle when the install base was at its peak, where Rebirth released in 2024 on PS5 only when the install base still hasn't caught up with the previous generation.

Let's be honest, there are indie companies who would jump at the chance to make Rebirth numbers. Yeah these "industry analysts" can suck the big one.

I think of my as an iPhone accessory. Just like how my Apple Pencil is an ipad accessory. Just like how my PS Portal is a PS5 accessory. Just like how the Steam Dock is a Steam Deck accessory. I don't see anything monopolistic in that. None of those accessories really pretend to or are built to be anything else.

Lots of talk about the "pandemic boom" but not one mention of rising interest rates which I'd wager is a bigger part of the equation seeing as how are affecting more than just the and industries. When you live through the better part of 15 years with near 0 interest rates, borrowing so cheaply, then rising again is inevitably going to have an effect. It is very likely that these companies over leveraged themselves on cheap credit and are now feeling the pinch.

What is going on with layoffs in the video games industry?

It really is funny how tastes evolve.

I used to be big into but these days I trend more toward

I used to be big into but I have really gone off recently as I've gone down my journey.

There was a time I used to think I could get into / but have gone off that too.

I used to be about mixed spirits but now I primarily look out for spirits I can sip neat.

Maybe its to do with getting older but my palate for different things really has evolved.
