@activitypubblueskybridge - as we look to rebuild the old test suite, and the compatibility report, look at the old one cached here in the WaybackMachine: https://web.archive.org/web/20221031085815/https://test.activitypub.dev/

Brilliant. BTW, if we created something short term like a Patreon to help support this work to you or anyone else who actively helps on this project... would that be of assist?

tchambers,

@rmdes @activitypubblueskybridge

I'll buy the domain we use as a temp, but I would think long term the name should be test.activitypub.rocks to mirror Webmention.rocks and as an homage to the original.

tchambers,

@rmdes @activitypubblueskybridge

For the final version if it all comes together - likely. Meanwhile I’ll buy a temp domain akin to ActivityPubRocksBeta…

So folks on this list can support this first effort. Maybe set up a BuyMeACoffee for our group support? https://www.buymeacoffee.com/

tchambers,

@Anachron Wordpress CMS I'd consider open. Some would say don't use on WordPress.com due to advertising etc, which I get that.

Of all the criticisms out there about Mastodon, some deserved, some not, the most valid of them is the lack of search. It’s such a crappy decision and worse experience, with daily impact, I sometimes feel foolish defending the entire platform. That I have to still search the hellsite for news, after nearly a year here is inexcusable. And please don’t waste my time telling me about . I’m aware. They were designed to be used within searches, not replace them.

tchambers,

@shoq Yeah, see Universedon who has a good fork for full text search NOW for their users. And more complex searches seem seems on the way in Mastodon land.

Hey @supernovae thought you would like to hear this... 👆

suguru, to Matrix

I'm trying to replace as a daily client because not only it is one of the featured clients with beautiful and consistent UI, but also I've been really fed up with governance of vector-im, to which I had essentially provided just free labor.

If you like a simple UI centered on text based communication without a bunch of features such as widget and thread, cinny should be a better choice than Element, though the client seems to lack basic features like permalink.

Rather than making another 10-post-long thread 🧵 on the latest things #Project92, I had mercy on everyone & just wrote 1 blog post…

(TLdr: the sky isn't falling, we have always been a diverse set of cultures and moderation standards, we will work it out on both fronts, but a lot is changing on all fronts & more will. And through it all we have all we need to protect our people.) Open to any thoughts, pushback, etc….

tchambers,

@emc2 Though every post you did was great.

tchambers,

@strixy I'm an admin of a mid-sized server w/ abt. 11K users. Any one of my users are fully free to block Meta's domains at will should they wish.

Also on top of that: as I see ANY harassment, toxic behavior, etc. reaching my folks from P92 users, I as admin can do things from permanently removing that user from ever being seen by any of my admins' site, reporting them to their admin (who would be Meta Trust and Safety) but also silencing them, deleting there posts form my users, etc.

I and others have talked a lot about the / issue over the past few days, analyzing their strategy, and possible responses, and why pre-emptive blocking isn't an effective measure.

This leaves the question of "what should we do?" So....

ITT: actually effective measures for building the resilience of the FediVerse and , informed by the experience of the movement.

(This is going to be a long one)

I’m telling you, even before the whole Meta situation became a hot topic. Myself and others were talking about a fracture in the Fediverse. How ultimately for the well-being it will need to split. For too long other opinions have been forced on others. Gatekeepers have had an outsized impact. Even without Meta the Fediverse has been headed towards a split.
Those that want to gatekeep and close off the experience vs those that want a more inclusive comprehensive interactive experience. Honestly, that’s fine as no one should be forced one way or the other. That’s what makes the Fediverse so beautiful.

tchambers,

Technically TruthSocial never turned on federation. So not a split as Gab was federating for months but stopped.

I’ll look that up! Others notes PHP beat out ActiveServerPages, Linux beat out Windows NT, JavaScript beat out forks, AMP format lost to well done HTML standards held against

tchambers,

@abathur D’oh! Will fix, thanks!

tchambers,

Jon: what did you think of my suggested few text additions for the pro-"Watch like a Hawk with the Finger Over the Block Button" section?

tchambers,

@jdp23 @protecttruth @reflex @shoq

I thought your fixes on Trust but Verify were balanced out with "Watch Like a Hawk" inclusion that balanced out the mistake some would make from the word "Trust." Thanks for that.

On the other:

My own view, again from most of the voices I engage with is that growth only positive if users are protected is the consensus view from this side...But YMMV. Hope you consider adding it... :-)
