We wanted to make something good tonight so we made Gatte Ki Subzi together ❤️

A Rajasthani dish made of besan dumplings in yogurt sauce, it is one of our favorite dishes.

We are thinking about doing something more elaborate like this every Thursday evening as a way to start the weekend a bit early (since we both have WFH on Fridays 😊).

Gate dumplings after they have been boiled. They are long, light yellow rolls on a white plastic plate.

techprofessor,

@bunvoyage17 @mastindia @mastoindians wow...looks delicious. No Baati with this?

Please suggest me rss feeds to follow for the world news.

techprofessor,

@jcrabapple thanks. Realising how hard it is to get unbiased news these days.

techprofessor, to technology

Tried to find a few things about technology on the internet. And it was disappointing to see very few videos about it and even those very quite old. The clients also don’t seem to be regularly updated. Will the technology sustain with such low interest level from users? @Monal @gajim @pidgin

techprofessor, to mastodon

Installed official @Mastodon app just to see how its been progressing. And it just feels wow. Clean simple UI and blazing fast performance.

techprofessor,

@jcrabapple ya. Will stick to it for some time.

techprofessor,

@jcrabapple ya...for me too @moshidon is the android client of choice. All of these have notifications issue on de googled phones though.

announcement :boost_requested:

So, drumroll please...

🥁🥁🥁

Here's what's coming up!

Yes, Calckey is undergoing a full rebranding!! But it's more than that. We've worked for MONTHS on this, and there's going to be a lot of changes and exciting things coming up. This includes:

  • Press releases?!?!
  • A super sick trailer video
  • A full roadmap for the next couple YEARS
  • A new flagship server that will be AUTOMATICALLY MIGRATED TO from calckey.social (a Fediverse first!)
  • A cute new mascot :calc_swear: <(I'm not cute?!)
  • A new code hosting service with better CI/CD
  • The stable release you've all been waiting for, but not as v14.0.0... as v1!!

And this is all coming on

July 19th.

Save the date.

techprofessor,

@kainoa the countdown begins!

techprofessor, to kbin

Why @calckey and app development is lagging so behind?

techprofessor,

@jcrabapple @calckey Ya…I meanr there are none yet and already has so many.

techprofessor,

@jcrabapple Right…but the way apps came to the forefront was fascinating. In 10 days or so at least 4 nicely usable apps came up. So I was just wondering. Have a good day…I hope your coffee is ready 😊

Good morning 😃☀️

techprofessor,

@og @cliffwade This scared me so much that I just couldn’t gather courage to install it 😂😂😂

techprofessor,

@og @cliffwade I don’t understand behind the scenes functioning of these apps and corporations behind them. But as a consumer my basic question would be why they need permissions if they are not going to collect a particular data. Yes I agree they might not collect everything or might not use it maliciously. But then these things should be clear to consumers to build their trust no?

Okay so I saw awhile back another app in beta for . I’m currently using and it’s okay, has a ways to go yet.

Anyone know the name of the other one?

    techprofessor,

@kylewritescode I am using this (Memmy) and finding it more stable. It’s being updated quite fast.

    techprofessor,

    @kylewritescode @bowreality wonderful. That's good to hear.

  • techprofessor,

@jcrabapple how to get it on iOS?

    techprofessor, to fediverse

Got to know about Ferdium and gave it a try. I liked it for accessing many services. Especially when all the apps for individual fedi projects are in early development. This approach of persistent web tabs seems quite useful. Anyone experienced with Ferdium have any idea about its privacy and security aspect?

    https://ferdium.org/

    techprofessor,

@box464 I had not heard about Arc either. Thanks. Tangram is another similar open source browser. But Ferdium felt more robust and polished to me.

I implemented groups in @pixelfed back in 2021, but never shipped it

It lead to Mastodon and other projects to start working on groups too

The main reason I've been holding off is because I want to get this right and provide a FB like groups experience

I'm no longer putting this off, and @pixelfed Groups will set a high bar in terms of group administration, moderation and portability.

It's not who did it first, it's who did it right 😎

@dansup @pixelfed you are amazing man!

Has anyone tried K9 Mail for Android? Trying to find a good client for my phone.

    techprofessor,

https://janerationx.me/@j Yes. It’s my daily driver and it works really well. And with the thunderbird team behind it, the future is likely to be amazing too.

Giving elk.zone a try. Not sure I will like it, since I prefer the more Tweet-deck style layout of the advanced Mastodon, but that has been laggy for me lately for some reason.

I was going to try Sengi but it is still not available as a flatpak. I refuse to install an AppImage or a Snap.

    techprofessor,

@thelinuxcast Exactly. It feels stable enough so no complaints.
