@benroyce 100% happened to my vet. Now that they’re owned by a Corp. they’ve started sending me texts “reminding“ me to bring my cat in for a semi annual visit, something I never did before. I told them I have a very young cat and to knock it off. For now I’m sticking to annual visits.

A bonkers investigation from the Dept of Defense OIG says that the White House's pharmacy was:

giving out drugs to unauthorized people on DoD's dime

letting patients use aliases in their medical records (which meant Walter Reed wasn't able to bill them)

not keeping records for drugs for fentanyl and ketamine correctly

and MUCH more

Estrogen patches

A few days ago [...] I was excited, both because I was going to be getting estrogen patches, and that I’d been told I would be paying zero copay.

For reasons, my legal name is not the same as my real name. During that customer service call, I was repeatedly misgendered by the representative. Even after correcting her twice, she still did it a third time.

I got quite insistent that time, and told her that if it happened again, I would be talking to her supervisor. Now, I am really not a confrontational person, at all.

Avoiding confrontation is a trait common among autistic people. But at this point I was getting really annoyed. She could obviously tell, and stopped with the "sir" this and "sir" that for the rest of the call.

As you will see from the blog post, I am overall disappointed by the outcome, but willing to admit that part was not her fault.

"Drugstore chains for decades saturated US cities, suburbs and small towns with new stores.

Now, they are closing thousands of stores, leaving gaps in communities for medicines and essentials. Researchers find pharmacy closures lead to health risks such as older adults failing to take medication."

So much for getting the new Covid booster shot from Walmart today.

Walmart is supposed to be part of the Bridge Access Program where people with no insurance can get the shot for free. But they had clue it even existed and couldn't figure out a way to enter billing information so that the wife and I could get it for free. We weren't going to pay $155 per shot either.

cliffwade,
@cliffwade@allthingstech.social avatar

@BeAware It was actually the Pharmacy manager that I was speaking to. He was actually very helpful and tried finding the information for about 30 minutes but couldn't. After doing a bit more research, it seems Walmart doesn't honor the Bridge Access Program at all currently. That's company wide.

Shop Talk: The FDA is telling everyone to destroy all "old" bivalent vaccine doses, effective immediately

Also, we can't even buy the new stuff yet.

Angry impatient people & wacky conspiracy theories incoming....

rxbrad,

@markusl The old bivalent vaccine covers strains that were prevalent last year. No sense getting the old vaccine now, when the new one that covers current strains will be imminently available.

And also, there are some (not entirely evidence based) sources saying you need to wait 3 months between shots. So if you got the old one now, you might be stuck waiting that long to get the current coverage.

How having weird special interests as an person saved the holidays of an old german couple and a lot of time at the lmao.

So I have a special interest in . It's often seen as weird. I am french, I speak English well enough to live my daily live in english if needed. I was securing my medication when I hear english in the pharmacy. Nothing unsual in the South of France. A couple of Germans (not unusual) wanted to fill in their prescription.

izabelamisiak,

@pitrouillesque I'm glad you helped them! You made my day, too - thanks! :)

(They should definitely hire you - but they probably don't even know they need this position)

pitrouillesque,
@pitrouillesque@ohai.social avatar

@izabelamisiak lmao yes, "summer interpret/old person interpret", they should have one in many places in the south, I speak three of the mains languages spoken by tourists (english-dutch-spanish) and I'm learning the forth (german). My grandparents often complain about people being too quick and not understanding a thing because the workers have to work fast now if they want to keep their job. Having someone to help out with foreigners would be super helpful :)

I'm glad I made your day!

Let's talk pharmaceuticals... My 1 med costs $1,116 for a 30 day supply from Walmart. At Cost Plus, my 1 med costs $46.20 for a 90 day supply. I know Mark Cuban is a billionaire, but his little pharmacy saves me over $3,000. What is the discrepancy here? They are both generic forms of my meds. I just had to get a 10 day supply to last me until my Cost Plus order comes in. It cost me $73. For only 10 days. The pharmaceutical industry needs to be more heavily regulated.

CindySue,
@CindySue@bookstodon.com avatar

And actually the $73 has gone down in price. It was over $100 for 10 days the last time I did it.
