Yup, I did it. I just bought #BaldursGate3 – I hope it’ll run decently on my #SteamDeck, Larian certainly seems confident about it.
I’m kind of hyped for it despite not really following the development after the initial early access launch in 2020. 😅
And I didn’t even play Divinity Original Sin II yet despite owning it for a while (shame on me 😅). I just don’t have time – but I’m coming for you, pile of shame! You have been warned. 🤣
@amxmln if you never played dnd game, put on lower difficulty and play char how you want. there is no need to min max your stats and game wont punish you.
All i can say you will restart game at least 10 times to find your right class to play (im speaking from my experience with divinitiy 1 and 2 ) 😉

Aliens: Dark Descent has become one of my favorite games in the franchise with a great blend of RTS, Horror, and Action. With some compromises, can run really well on the #SteamDeck!

@dmk@BoofTroupe When you get past about 10k games in the library, the Steam Deck starts having very random problems and instability. Had to factory reset but after that, I never readded all the roms to Steam and we were all good. Basically, all the added games was busting some memory limits.
@gamingonlinux Rather than a beefier Steam Deck 2, my dream is for a smaller Steam Deck Pocket. As in, actually fits in my pocket.
I bought a Miyoo Mini Plus last year and I’ve put far more hours into it than I ever did my Deck, because I just like the form factor so much more. Give me SteamOS at this size.
Obviously I wouldn’t expect much in the way of power, but if it runs my favorite 2D indie games I’ll be happy.
I saw Hardware Haven on YT do a video on how to install proxmox onto a steamdeck. The Debian installer seems to work well in the installer compared to the Proxmox installer... but I had trouble after rebooting after the install. I'll try again in the future, but installing to an external USB C hard drive didn't go too well.
A bunch of home server distro's seem to be based on the latest Debian and there are install scripts out there.

The steamdeck is not weak, but not beefy on memory either. I run virtualized x86 on a Thinkpad with 32GB, and emulation of x86 on Macbook with Asahi linux is also reasonably fast.

Oh boy!! Just saw that @protonmail release #ProtonPass, their own #passwordmamager! This was probably my first feature request before @ProtonDrive was released. I can't wait to check it out and test it in the following few days.
Currently, I have a #Proton premimium subscription, but using #Bitwarden. So I can use it at no extra cost, but I will only make the full switch if all of my boxes are checked!

Hmm, I don't need a Steam Deck by any means, but a(n increasingly vocal) part of my brain says I do so I can actually experience this Flatpak/Flathub distribution method on Steam Deck desktop mode... 🤔
@garrett@iod hmmm, I'm familiar with Bazzite but hadn't considered it for this. I suppose I could throw it on something, though I don't have anything portable and as powerful as a Steam Deck.

Alright, got my #SteamDeck yesterday! What are some interesting things I can do with it? I'm pretty excited just to play more games without being tied down to my PC, but I get the sense that people have squeezed more than that out of it.
But for a lot of things the Steam Deck should be powerful enough. If I am not mistaken is desktop mode KDE based, so enough software should be available.

EmuDeck and KDE are indeed worth a look. Decky Loader is another thing to be amazed of - makes this the most customizable console experience ever.

It's really well done and runs perfectly on Linux (Fedora Silverblue, Steam Flatpak, AMD GPU).
The one issue I did hit was accidentally enabling cross-save, where it tried to sync (and the server must be super busy at the moment) and it hung, preventing saving from happening.
Cross-save is probably only needed for console to PC & back — I'm assuming Steam PC to Steam Deck works via Steam.

Interestingly enough, the switch pro controller and ps5 dualsense also suffer from stick drift. I personally think Nintendo and Sony just trying to cheap out on parts
@steve yeah i'm on 3.5 already. it's weird, i get pretty good performance on this game in yuzu for like 30 minutes, then it tanks. then i restart yuzu and it's back to good performance again 🤔
