Occasionally on Mastodon, I will have a run in with someone who still deals in Sexism, racism and homophobia. It just seems like it hits harder here, because I view this as a safe place to be myself. Sometimes the ugliness in the world overwhelms me, and the way I cope with it is by reminding myself of the beauty and kindness in the world.

So, if you feel like it, share something nice, could be a news story, a fact, a photo, or a personal story, anything positive or at least turned out positive.

Seriously, being able to share with all of you, and being so openly embraced by this community has been an unusual privilege in the world of social media. I hope we all keep striving to make this an equitable and fun place.

Even if CO₂ emissions decreased annually as much as during the pandemic lockdown, we wouldn't achieve our climate targets.

While individuals made huge sacrifices, the system remained. This shows that individual action will not solve climate change. We need the system to change.

The relationship sounds quite messy 🙁 of course we don't know these specific two people but it's really not personal; if anyone is seriously in a relationship like this they absolutely should reconsider just leaving.

Do you prefer typing emoji instead of stopping to choose them from a picker?

You can do this when writing a post on Mastodon's web interface by typing a : (colon) and then a keyword without a space. This will automatically bring up emoji with that keyword in their description.

For example if you type :sun it will show you emoji with the keyword "sun".

(Note that if there are many matches for a keyword, you may need to go to the picker to see them all.)

@davidho i might sound mean LOL but to me the point of protests is to remind the oligarch-wannabes about who's actually in power. For this to be effective there needs to be some pressure applied. Disruptive protests are not necessarily violent protests it's just the propaganda trying to make people equate the two...

@w7voa whether we like it or not twitter is a website controlled by a private company and elon musk has bought that company. He owns it and he can do whatever he wants with it. But also we as customers (of sorts) have every right to leave anytime for any reason
